Product Overview

Post and Column Bases secure the bottom of posts or columns to concrete and are perfect for decks or patio covers. Models are available for attaching to existing hardened concrete, wet concrete, as well as wood. The BCS allows for the connection of 2-2X's to a 4X post or 3-2X's to a 6X post. Double-shear nailing between beam and post gives added strength.

  • Provides a positive connection for a post to a wood deck
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening
  • Reduces the chance of the post splitting and eliminates nailing into end grain
  • Not recommended for non top-supported installations (such as fences or unbraced carports)
  • Made from 18-Gauge steel
  • Galvanized for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 16d common nails

Customer Questions & Answers

Can these be installed with 3 inch treated screws since this is going into a treated post and beam ?

Asked by: lake
Depending on the connector being fastened, Simpson has specific fastener recommendations...in this case, Post connection should be made with 6 x SD10112 screws and Beam connection should be made with 4 x SD10112 fasteners.

Customer Reviews

BCS 3 in. x 6 in. Galvanized Double Post Cap/Base is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved a Problem! This hardware was what I needed. The 6 x 6 posts we were using were too short to notch, so this hardware worked to attach a beam composed of three 2 x 10s. Certainly beats having to notch the 6 x 6 posts!
