Product Overview

The CPTZ post base incorporates a knife plate with a standoff base. It achieves a clean, concealed look while providing a 1 in. standoff height above concrete. The CPTZ is installed with 1/2 in. Dia galvanized pins (supplied).

  • 1 in. standoff height is code-required when supporting permanent structures that are exposed to weather or water splash or in basements
  • Standoff reduces the potential for decay at post or column ends
  • Anchorage for the CPTZ can be either cast-in-place or retrofit with adhesive or mechanical anchors
  • Post size: 6 in. x 6 in.
  • Made from 10-Gauge steel
  • Z-MAX galvanization offers extra corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications
  • Install with 1/2 in. anchor bolts and supplied dowels

Customer Questions & Answers

can you anchor the bottom base to concrete

I dont see any holes to anchor the black bottom peice to concrete
Asked by: Jay
The black bottom base is the cover. The metal protruding up, turns both ways at 90 degress, which is what you anchor to concrete. The black base slips over it.

For a 20' x 10' structure, is there an optimum direction the fin should be positioned? In line along the 20' length or perpendicular...or does it matt

Asked by: Pergolajack
It would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to specify the orientation depending on the lateral load demands. (The F2 direction is rated higher than the F1 direction; please see our website or current catalog for details). Thank you!

an you tell me the center to center measurement for the base that you anchor to bracket to

Asked by: Checken
The holes are 2 1/4" apart center-to-center, but they are staggered - on opposite sides and opposite ends of the knife plate. Its not easy to give a clear picture in words...I would suggest visiting our website and looking at the "Installation" images in the gallery on the CBT page for a clear picture. Thank you!

What is the measurement center to center of the anchor bolt holes? Are they directly across from each other or stagged

Asked by: Chicken
The top two holes are 2 1/4" apart center-to-center and the third hole is at the centerline between those two, but 1.5" lower (center-to-center). This base has a knife plate that is inserted into a 3/16"-wide slot cut in the end of the post and then 1/2"-diameter drift dowels are inserted in pre-drilled post holes and through the knife plate. Please visit our website for complete installation information. Thank you!
