even though I have a lowes down the road from my house I will drive the extra miles to buy this bracket. I don't like doing things twice. just the shear thickness of these brackets and the use of lage bolts shows that the manufacturer was making these to stand up to anything.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Donvstheworld Very strong post base
This is a heavy gauge steel post base unlike some of the thinner ones HD sells. I've seen many of these type and was pleasantly surprised on how solid they are. They usually don't stock it in the stores so figure a few days lead time when ordering online.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RTVI Simplson's Column Base Supports
I am a believer in, and longtime user of Simpson's Strong Tie Products, so I know the product quality is there; that's a given! I've always had good and prompt service with the Home Depot Stores, and now with purchases on line. The website is easy to use, the prices are always fair and competitive, and HD's web system always keeps the customer updated on the delivery status.
I would have to give HD, two thumbs up on the overall experience!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mandy8 Sturdy but skewed
This base was much better than the ABA bases I used on the same project. Only flaw was that the horizontal part in the middle was not exactly perpendicular to the upper tines, which seemed faulty. Doesn't impact the end result, though.
