Product Overview

Simpson Strong-Tie Pipe Grip Ties make it easy to attach wood fence rails to metal fence posts. Galvanized fence posts typically last longer than wood posts, extending the life of the fence by helping to avoid a common problem: rotting fence posts. Now you can get the look of a wood fence with the durability of steel posts.

  • Install on 2 in. (2-3/8 in. outside diameter) vertical pipes, offsetting corners to allow for the correct rail alignment
  • Use 3 to 4 PGTs per pipe; line up to stringline
  • Field-bend PGT flanges to fit corner and angled conditions (bend one time only)
  • Made from 12-Gauge steel
  • Galvanized for extra corrosion resistance
  • PGT attaches to rails with Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Drive SDS 1/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. HDG wood screws (not included)

For the bolt going through the bracket, is there a nut for that? And if not, what size is the bolt?

Asked by: Ownz27
No nut - the sheet metal is stamped to provide sufficient threads for the included bolt

However, I did not rate it a five because of the design - the location of the tightening bolt causes the mounting surface to be farther out from the post than some other designs. This makes the fence/post combination quite wide. I alternated panel surfaces. This allowed me to easily cover the steel posts. The panel offsets are quite large. Personal taste will decide if that is a positive or a negative. Wait ten years and I'll comment on the durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy way to put up a fence!!!!!!!!!! This product is attached to a fence pipe. It has holes in it where you can attach the 2x4 rails. Talk about easy, soooo easy to install. I wanted pipe post instead of wood post for 2 reasons. I do like the way the pipe looks and It will last much longer then wood. We also filled the pipe up with cement to make it stronger, because of the prevailing winds from the west which are strong in spring. I also installed on the bottom rail a 2x6 making the bottom even stronger. I LOVE HOME DEPOT !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convert a Chain link to Wood Fence This is a great clamp to put around a chain link fence post at the top, middle & bottom, then apply 2x4's stretching to the next post on which to nail your boards. Nice conversion from chain link to wood fence. And, the BEST PART is you don't have to dig post holes!!! You also get more privacy! And, the dogs can't see out, so it controls barking & dogs jumping over fences to escape!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME! WOW! I set 12 2-3/8" galvanized fence posts with pile driver costing $20.00, measuring tape & level and a string all in a few hours. Next day I slid 3 strong ties down each post. I put the ties all but 1" from bottom of dog ear fence to keep it from doing the banana thing and made sure I had 3" clearance above the soil with the dog ear or you will get the wick effect happening which is the water will work up from the dirt into your wood ruining it quickly. Same at top and put the middle tie in the middle. Put up 75' of fence and barely broke a sweat. No mixing concrete and digging holes with these puppies! Well worth the money. Remember, stain or treat your fence as soon as possible after building it. Don't use the old school rule..."OH, I have to wait a year before I stain It." The stains and sealers are all water base now which is not like the old school oil base. If you want your fence to look new, stain it when it's new. Or figure it out when you stain it in a year and it looks like old wood. Be safe! Even better, if the ice does push up a post which sometime it happens or a tree root, you can loosen the tie around the pipe and level it back

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They worked great. I built a 400' fence and used the galvanized iron poles with the pipe grips. The grips worked great. I purchased them in boxes of fifty for the price break.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Building a fence to last..... The "pipe grip ties" are just what I needed to hold everything together for a stronger, long-lasting fence. They are easy to apply, easy on the eye and made of durable steel too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product, however... The 1/4" hex head bolts were NOT included as was stated in the product description. Aside from that, no complaints. Product is very easy to install and my fence is holding up well
