Questions & Answers

I have a 5.5inch band board. Must i nail or screw a 10.5" board to it and then install the 13' long stringers? # of special screws into band board?

If i do the above, making the band board now, 3" thick, should i use 3" of their special screws through the metal into both band boards? Thx See photo of this box 13' up in the air.

can this be attached to the top to be flush with a 2x8 rim joist. That would leave the required 4 1/4 distance for the connector.
Asked by: dug
Our literature currently features common construction, but you are correct...if the stringer is top flush with a 2x8 rim board, the minimum edge requirements can still be met. Thank you!

I have responded to the questionnaire about the 8- step stringer saying about the same thing... where's the instructions, and shouldn't I get another stringer? And then do I buy some wood to make the stairs to actually connect the two stringer sides to make the stair case? So, help!!!
