Hello, we just bought this product because we've come to a point in our patio cover where there 2 angles, (they might be close to 45 degree angles, not quite sure). We tried looking up more info on how to adjust this product the way we need. Are there any tips? Tutorials available?

Thank you.

The Simpson ZMAX hangers are pretty close to the angle to which they are design to hold two pieces of beam wood. The best way to adjust the hanger to fit your angle beam attachment is to cut the beam angle that will attach to the straight beam. If the hanger needs to be more acute to the straight beam attach hanger to the straight beam location and nail into place on straight beam. Take a scrap piece of wood and place into hanger and tap scrap wood to close the acute angle to match angle beam cut. Then nail cut beam into place. To open the acute angle of hanger we use two Sheet Metal offset angle Visegrip pliers made of steel. Place the pliers in the acute angle slot to as close to the angle point as possible clamp down and pry apart to the desired angle needed. On the obtuse angle attach both pliers and close the angle to the desire position. Read Less

Answer:
If you are still in need of an answer to this question since 2012 you are a more patient person than I would be. The hanger you have is adjustable by bending the"tail" section to the needed angle then attatching to the board at the tail section and at the faceplate will hold the chosen angle.

Answer:
The hanger can be adjust to the angle of the board - mount it to the header first then pound the center nail under the bracket on the downward angle piece- or better yet use clamps like I did and everything stays in place while you hammer away

They are usually located in the same area as the hangers. They work great and are easier to install than the nails. If you can't locate them in your store just ask at the contractors desk.

But these hangers take all the guesswork out of it. They fall right into place. Whoever invented them. Thank you very much. Great job.
