The fact is, that even in salt or brackish water, if you have a component that is more than a couple of feet underwater corrosion is less of an issue, as compared to something that is, say, at the tide line and is sometimes exposed and sometimes underwater. If you have something that is going to be continually underwater, say three feet deep or more, then I'd consider using this product.
However, if it is going to be occasionally exposed to air, then I'd consider going with an epoxy-based coating for this or some other connector, that is rated for marine use. Read Less

Answer:
We do not have a product recommended for underwater conditions.Z-MAX provides a medium level of corrosion protection while stainless steel provides a high level of protection, but stainless steel can still corrode and is not recommended for underwater applications. Thank you!

Hopefully you have already received an answer to your inquiry, but I will answer just in case. The HTP37Z is only available in the gauge listed (16). Unfortunately we do not have another plate close to this size in 12 or 14 gauge. The closest would be the HRS416Z which is 3 1/4" x 16" (installs with SDS screws instead of nails); it is 12 gauge. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by USED THIS TO SPLICE JOIST RIM AND BEAMS ON MY DECK THERE IS NO STRUCTURAL RATING ON THIS PRODUCT BUT IS USED TO KEEP WOOD TOGETHER WHERE THEY MEET AT A SPLICE. EVEN THOUGH THE SPLICES OCCUR OVER A POST CAP, THIS ADDS A LITTLE EXTRA INSURANCE FOR ME PERSONALLY THAT IT WON'T EVER MOVE. RATED FOR OUTDOOR AND PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER. June 24, 2016
