Product Overview

Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).

  • Versatile connector for various 90 degree connections and home repair projects
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • Dimensions: 1-1/2 in. x 2 in. x 1-3/8 in.
  • Made from 18-Gauge steel
  • ZMAX galvanization offers extra corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications
  • Install with 10d x 1-1/2 in. nails or #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD screws

Answer:
a "#9 screw" or a "10d nail"
I used 1" long screws (though the page suggests 1 1/2" screws... I would base that on the width of the wood/drywall/etc you are screwing into)

A21Z vs A21? Which has better corrosion resistance?

I would have assumed the A21Z had better corrosion resistance than the A21, but the A21Z seems to be less expensive than the A21. Am I misunderstanding something about the "ZMAX" coating?

Answer:
The A21Z has more corrosion resistance with the Z-MAX (G185) coating which provides a medium level of corrosion resistance. The A21 has the standard G90 coating which provides a low level of corrosion resistance. Please confirm pricing with The Home Depot. Thank you!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for projects I use these on projects from making planter boxes to a rolling kitchen island. I don't have a nail gun, so I use these to attach two pieces of wood knowing my angles are square. May 27, 2016
