Don't believe everything you read on the internet. The description does not really tell you everything:
1. It leaks! From the beginning it leaked while using steam
2. It needs to refilled with water after ironing a pair of pants and a shirt.
3. Poor design for adding water. Overflows unless you slowly add the water.
4 Now it just stopped working, after almost 2 years! The Black & Decker I had before lasted almost 10 years and it broke because I fell from ironing board and cracked the base open - but it still works!
I'll be going back to B&D.

This iron is not so heavy or large like most irons are being made today. Very smooth to use and doesn't spit out water. It is 1700 watts and 8 or 9 settings which makes it easy to iron any fabric, including heavy jeans. Some reviews mention that the handle is too big around. I have very small hands and have not found this to be a problem as the material of the handle makes it very easy to grip. Though it doesn't have the many holes like some other irons, it still steams very well. Just can't be away from my ironing too long as it shuts off after 8 minutes which is a good time increment. Have wanted a singer iron for a long time and I am not disappointed in my purchase at all. I highly recommend this iron, especially if you do not like the huge, heavy irons which seem to be the norm for our day and time.

The iron works fine. None of the reported problems like turning off by itself etc.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clovis Very good iron, fair price
I had purchased the same iron on Amazon a week ago and then, my mother who is not at all Internet savvy wanted it, too. However, the price for the same iron in physical stores like Walmart was around $75-$80, while I only paid $50 for it on Amazon. So, I gave this iron to her and had to buy another one for myself. However, one week later, the same iron now increased $13 in price. This is how I came upon Home Depot- it had the same price I had paid on Amazon one week earlier. Aside from that, very prompt delivery (I would say faster than Amazon) and great product- which I already knew from consulting reviews on Consumer Reports. Great job!

si far the iron works like a charm. The sole plate is staying nice and clean and shiny. Heats up quickly and does what it's supposed to do.

My wife kept saying that our old iron no longer worked. I'm not sure that was an accurate assessment however as most husbands do they take path of least resistance, so I bought a new one. Seems to me that all steam irons are basically the same. This one is loaded with features and great mood lighting (soft blue) but at the end of the day it's a steam iron. What I wanted was a decent price, heft, no leaks and a range of temperatures and that's what I got. It is a bit of a pain to fill. Comes with a little filler bottle but if you're not careful it will run all over the place. The key is "slow" filling.
