Hello,
The purpose of the barb fittings is to help prevent hose from sliding off of a connection when under stress, whether from pressure or interaction.
The answer to this question will depend greatly on the texture of the material it is being clamped to as well as the amount of pressure that is passing through it. The more texture the pipe has the better.
If you do intend to use the pipe without a barb connection then the best suggestion is to insert the intended connection pipe as far into the hose as possible and use more than one clamp.
Again under anything more than passive drainage a barbed connection is going to be the best option. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

Working in the attic with tight spots. This flexible line would be easier to manage under the floor. Will codes allow?

Answer:
It is doubtful that any code would allow the use of the Spa Flex Hose as a sanitary drain. It would be best to check with your local authority with jurisdiction in your area. Please let us know if we can help with anything else. Thank you.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tired of replacing sump pump discharge hose I have replaced my sump pump discharge hor several times in the year that I have liven in my house. It just kep spliting and spraying grey water all over my basement/ laundry room. Decided to go with this and I love it. takes the pressure of the sump pump, and gets rid of the grey water without the worry of splitting the discharged tube again. August 21, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy but too Stiff This hose is quite sturdy but unfortunately too stiff to be of any use for my purposes. I could hardly straighten it out from the reel. Was much much easier to use some 45s and 90s and good ol' sched 40. Might be useful for a single long run without significant bends. March 25, 2014
