Do you need to use plumbers tape?

Do you need to use plumbers tape?
Asked by: Homer
No, tape is not required since the arrester comes with seals or orings.

Can these be installed directly on my washer if I already have arresters on my shut off valve box?

Have LG washer and still have some water hammering with the cheap arrestors at the valve. Can I run these on my washer and still keep the ones on the valve?
Asked by: matt
I called Sioux Chief and asked customer service about the correct location and orientation for installing the Mini-Rester. I was informed that these can be installed either at the water shut-off valve end of the hose, or at the washing machine connector end of the hose. Further, I was informed that this device will work installed in any and all orientations - it does not necessarily have to be mounted straight up and down as is shown in the illustration - for example, you could mount it "sideways" on the washing machine connection for a low-visibility install if you like.

Does this thing need to to expand in order to function?

Asked by: Suze
Not externally. Most arrestors have a piston that moves slightly when the water is shut off, but that's all internal.

Does the arrester tube have to be installed oriented directly at 12 o'clock?

Asked by: Andy
No it is a pressurized vessel with air on one side of a piston and water on the other. The water pressure in your home pushes the piston towards the closed end and compresses the air on the closed side. It will work in any position.

The first set I purchased about 2 years ago and have worked perfectly until now. The famous banging noise came back and was really annoying, almost to the point where I was going to tear open the drywall. Then I remembered the valves and thought to replace my original set and everything is quite again. I guess depending on how much laundry you do, the valves will eventually need to be replaced. But overall, this product is definitely a must, the first set I installed on the valves just off the wall and the new set I installed directly on the washer and both do the job well.

We moved into a house where the water supply lines for our washing machine had no no in-line anti-hammer plumbing. Our new washing machine was slamming the pipes rattling water lines throughout the house. Tight spacing dictated I attach the arresters directly to the washing machine and, while mine are set vertically, package instructions say that is not necessary. These well-made and modestly-priced arresters installed easily and instantly made the hammering a thing of the past; it seemed almost like a miracle. Love this product!

Just finished installing two of these on my washing machine supply lines, one each on hot and cold. If you can screw in a light bulb, you have the mechanical aptitude to install these Arresters. I was having significant water hammering each time the washer fill valves would open and close - installing these arresters virtually eliminated my water hammering problem. One of those products that actually work. Oh, and MADE IN U.S.A. as well, so you know the quality is there.

LG washer, when it fills up the pipes would rattle and bang, drove me crazy, I was going to go into the walls to put braces on the pipes until i stumbled across this, installed in 5 minutes (i put mine on the valves, not on the washer as the picture shows), MIRACLE, CANT BE HAPPIER, thanks Sioux Chief!

Was annoyed with how loud it was due to the washing machine turning off the water so fast. This made my new washing machine quiet enough to use all the time. Very happy with this purchase as it was simple to install and low cost.

We recently bought a Maytag front loader and the water hammer was really bad. Based on the reviews here I decided to try the Mini-Rester. Much to my surprise and relief it worked!! It was a little tight getting between the washer and the basement wall but I got it to work.

New construction so no idea what issues would have existed without them. Piping is all 1/2" PEX. On well water with a 90psi tank. No issues with backpressure spikes or banging.
