For $80, I would expect a lot more brass!! I had to buy because was only tub drain in brushed nickle. Pop up drain control is also flimsy plastic. Not impressed at all with this product.

We did not even completely install this cable drain. The quality of the PVC and the finish pieces that look like they are brushed nickel but just plastic did not impress us. The plug for the drain already had a dent in it because it was not really metal. Wish we had not bothered to cut it to fit because now we cannot return it. Please do not waste your money on this accessory for the tub like we did. Very disappointed...

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Henry Don't buy it!
Just bought this and had it installed by a professional, but after the bathroom is done and I go use it on DAY 1, it doesn't hold water. The "plug" is not connected to anything but appears to be pushed up and it must "fall" when it goes down because it is not attached to any other part of the drain! It will not hold water! Cost nearly one HUNDRED dollars wit the tax and it is good for nothing. Can't tear up the tub, tile etc so I am stuck with a totally new bathroom with a drain that won't work.
Did my installer do something wrong? Is there a fix?

I have enjoyed the cable drain for reliable service. This is the second house that I have installed these drain in and would recommend them for reliable service.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ditchwizard Very disappointed, does not fit standard tub
This item would not fit my standard 5' by 30" (Americal Standard Cast Iron) tub. The drain portion is constructed differently than conventional units, and has few threads -- did not have enough to catch a thread with the rubber gasket in place. In my opinion, it will probably only work on fiberglass tubs -- I think some of the resin products probably are too thick for this thing also. In additon, the quality is no more than average, probably less than many others. Considering that it is, in my opinion, very expensive, I feel that its value is poor. I'm returning it to H-D and I hope I can get my money back. In addition, the instructions are minimal and poor.

I still have no idea how this thing is supposed to go together after two hours of messing with it. The instructions are garbage they show all the parts but not where the tub goes in between the parts...DUUUHHH. The picture on the box shows the big seal on the bottom and the instructions show it on the top, I tried all combinations and it looks funny with my final version. This was a replacement from another Watts peice of junk from HD that didnt shut off the water entirely. Unbelievable that HD sells this, thank god it was half price but still too much as the amount of time you will spend is ridiculous

I needed a drain system that fit a taller tub and this was the only one in stock. I have now installed 2 of these and I like the cable system. The drain lifts out for my tenants to be able to easily clean.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Scott This Drain Kit is JUNK!!!!
I spent a little more and got this cable driven shower drain because I thought that the higher price meant a better product. What a mistake! I had remodeled with new tub/shower and installed this drain. Less than 2 years later, the cable drive housing leaks badly. It ruined kitchen ceiling below. You will notice small box at drain bottom where cable enters drain. This box leaks along with location where cable enters box. Stick with trip lever models in brass for years of reliability. I will never make a mistake like this again. Keep the design simple with quality material, especially where the construction is buried within floors or walls, it will save you in the long run.
