Answer:
I would not recommend this saw for cutting metal - the supplied blade is somewhere around 20 teeth per inch, and you would need a higher tooth count to cut metal accurately.

YES YOU CAT CUT NON-FERRUS WITH YOUR SAW BUT DEPENTING ON THE THICKNESS YOU WILL HAVE SLOW THE CUTTING SPEED OF YOUR SAW ALSO THE HEAVIER TYPE OF BLADES ARE RECOMMENDED. ALSO YOU SHOULD EXPECT SHARP EDGES AROUND CUT AREAS. I AN NOT FAMILER WITH GAGE THICKNESS BUT ANYTHING THICKER THAN 1/8 INCH WOULD BE VERY SLOW AND COULD CAUSE OVER HEATING OF THE BLADE AND MOTOR. TRY TO LIMIT IT TO NO THICKER THAN A CD Read More

Thank you for your question. We recommend that you firmly clamp or bolt the scroll saw to a stable, level workbench or table. There should not be excessive vibration.

I'm wondering when you have to feed the blade through a drilled hole does the bottom stay in place or do you have to pull tension on it. I would p refer to be able to move from drilled hole to drilled hole easily without having to replace the blade at the bottom and top.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Both the upper and lower blade holder hold the blade in place. If you remove the top of the blade you would also have to remove the bottom of the blade.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 44 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works very well, smooth cutting and quiet I bought this Friday and immediately put it to use building a biplane for my youngest grandson. It makes very smooth cuts and has minimal vibration. Much improvement from my last scroll saw. April 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and quiet scroll saw Minimal assembly was required. It is easy to change blades, or to pop one end of th blade free for insertion into a drilled hole for enclosed cuts. The variable speed feature is really nice and gives you better control over your cut. Intricate cuttings are a snap as evicenced by the fire axe, ladder, and pike pole on the bird house I made. The only down side is that after a couple of days use the bolt connecting the eccentric from the motor to the arm that moves the blade came loose and the saw wouldn't work. It was a easy enough fix to get an Allen wrench in there and reattach the nut to the bolt. I didn't even consider sending the unit back for warranty work. April 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product with many uses Excellent product easy to use very little set up. Packed well therefore no damage. Blade change very easy and is strong enough to do all I need November 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product and service Was what I ordered, arrived on schedule. Good deal. October 13, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Let the buyer beware! This product is advertised as using "pinned or non-pinned" blades. I have used it a few times with pinned blades, but I recently found a unique design blade that happens to be non-pinned, so I bought it hoping to increase the versatility of my saw. Try as I may, I was not able to get the non-pinned blade to tighten in my saw. Expecting user error, I called the customer service line, and was assured that the saw did in fact use either type of blade, but since I was having trouble, I was transferred to a service tech, Rick. Rick proceeded to tell me that this model was not very good with non-pinned blades, since it had only thumb screws to tighten the blade. I explained that the thumb screws did not even touch the blade, much less hold it. He further commented that the old style that tightened with an allen wrench were more effective, and suggested that I use pliers to adjust the part that is supposed to hold the blade. I further explained the problem, and he had no suggestions except to buy only pinned blades for this model of saw!!! October 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Scrolling is Adictive. Fun Saw This is my first Scroll Saw and I love it already. Before unboxing I read some reviews and was a little nervous that there may be more to setup than just switching a blade. It comes together easy and in my opinion does not need to be mounted on anything. The only thing you need is a combination square to make sure the blade and the cutting surface are square. I got started right away, I did like the variable speed knob although I was not quite sure when to use the fast or slow speed but it was addictive once I got going. My first project was a snowflake ornament I made with my son. (I have included a picture of it in this review) I think it came out pretty good and can't wait to get better at scrolling. Things I liked: The light The saw came with two blades The ease of switching the blades How easy it was to use right away December 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great buy excellent value for the money..light, dependable, EASY blade change..uses pin headed blades...light attached and blower attachment included October 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice saw for the price. Have always enjoyed woodworking, but had never uses a scroll saw before. Bought this to learn and provide an additional hobby in my retirement years. "Got my feet wet" by downloading a deer scene off the internet and then cutting it out on plywood. Made a few small goofs along the way, but my family members were amazed at the results of my first project. Yes, this saw has some excessive vibration at higher speeds, but at low-to-medium speeds no problem. The blade is easy to disconnect and reconnect to get at the internal cutouts (used the pin type blade). Placed a portable shop light directly overhead to help to see details. I am very happy with the performance of this saw how easy it was to learn on. Am looking forward to many hours indulging in this new hobby with this new tool. August 4, 2015
