Thanks for your question. The 1817 router comes with a 1/2" collet and 1/4" adapter sleeve so 1/2" or 1/4" router bits can be used.

Thank you for your question. Yes, you may use the router for cutting Formica edges. We recommend using a laminate (Formica) trim router bit for best results.

Answer:
Unfortunately we do not have compatibility information for Husky router tables. Our Skil router tables will accept all of our Skil routers plus many other manufacturers models. You can also mark off and drill the holes needed in the mounting plate to match up with the router. We would recommend contacting Husky to see if our Skil router will work with their table.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Router I was surprised at the great way that form follows function for the price. The handles are very comfortable to grip, the alternate on/off switch by your thumb is a nice addition, I have never owned a soft start router before and will never buy one without after using this machine. The micro-feed is very accurate and a handy feature for depth control. The L.E.D. light is fantastic, it lights up when plugged in so you can see what you are doing before starting the router. The only let down was that I could not find a edge guard for this router anywhere. I had to make my own. February 16, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good *IF* you know what you are getting Really, a 3.5 star would be best. As long as you understand what you are getting and are prepared to deal with it, it's a great value. It's very hard to find a 1/2" collet router for this price and to get the price this low, there are a few shortcomings. First, not variable speed, so be prepared to be running full speed all the time with all bits and all materials. Second, no dust collection so it's gonna make a huge mess. Third, and this is mentioned in a lot of reviews, the depth adjustment is garbage. I've not had any issues with it holding once I've locked it in place, but the process of unlocking and locking it into place moves the router. Because of this, there will be a lot of guess work and trial and error in getting the depth correct. If you are going to be setting it once and then running it at the same depth for many cuts in a row it's not a big issue. If you are making lots of smaller cuts with different depths or bits, it will probably drive you mad. That being said, I'm pretty happy with it as it serves its purpose I knew about these shortcomings when I bought it. Still a pretty good value. August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Returned - and lost a bit. Used it once but the whole thing broke when trying too loosen the collet nut. I returned it and still couldn't get my bit out. Did a great job the one time. June 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect I got exactly what I ordered, and I would not be hesitant to order again. April 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great item It's been able to do everything I've asked and do it well. I'm happy with this router. I'd like to get some attachments. April 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ease of use I just got my Skil router a few days ago and was eager to practice some. The router was.ready to use straight from the box. No hunting for assembly parts etc. I especially like the LED lights. They make seeing your cut very easy. However, I need to upgrade my learning curve on locking in the bit depth. I thought I had it tight, but it tended to drift down as I worked. A little bit of study should solve the problem. Powerful enough for my home jobs as an amateur woodworker. February 7, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by disappointing Depth adjustment very clumsy. Very difficult to reset to a previous setting. February 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by When you need a 1/2 inch router The Skil 1817 is a 1/2 inch router with a 1/4 inch adapter. It is quite easy to use and is powerful enough to tackle all but the hardest routing jobs. It may take a little bit of fussing with all of the adjustments to find out what is really adjustable. But an intermediate do it your selfer like me can scope out all adjustments fairly easily. The owners manual could be better written and more comprehensive but the router is recommended for all but the most advanced woodworkers. September 22, 2015
