stand

Can you use it with out the stand? When you collapse the stand how tall is the saw with the stand attached? I am trying to figure out where I can store it when it is not in use.
Asked by: mtthws
Yes, you can use it without the stand. Collapsing the stand requires disconnecting it from the saw, so you need to store them as separate pieces.

is it easy to adjust the blade
Asked by: Don
Like all tables saws, this one lets you adjust the angle of the blade as well as the height of the blade above the table. Both adjustments seem reliable (although I seldom use the angle feature, I like my blade to be absolutely square to the table and, once I get it square, I tend to leave it alone. The good news is, as I use the table saw, raising and lowering the blade with the crank on front, it seems to always stay square. Except for the tabs in the miter slots this is an excellent value small contractor table saw. I'm not sure why Skil put those tabs there, it prevents you from using standard miter blocks to build jigs.

Laminate Floor Install

I 'm a fairly able do it yourself type of person and I was wondering if this table saw would be able to make the cuts needed that a miter saw could do, or should I buy the miter saw and this table saw. I don't do anything special like hobbies or crafts. I just need to install flooring and upgrade my deck. Thanks for your valued opinions ahead of time.
Asked by: jim3000gt
You can make all of the cuts you need with the addition of a simple sled which you can easily make in your shop. You will pretty much need this for cross cuts and miter cuts as the miter gauge, as is common on inexpensive saws, will not help you much due to it's imprecise adjustment.

Can I do dado work on this saw?

I see no reference to dado compatibility in the description.
Asked by: AP
Yes but Home Depot does not sell a dado clearance plate, I found it at Wall Mart, of all places. Dados work with this table saw but only in pine or softwood, An attempt on hard maple froze the saw motor. I shut the power off and the saw still works, but the fact is, this saw just doesn't have the power to accomplish that task.

The fence and blade setup was already set at 90, which made assembly much easier. It does start a lil on the loud side, but acceptable. Wish it had a hookup for a shop vac, but good for the modest price.

Still running fine and I keep telling myself I'm going to sell it and get an upgrade for a higher end saw but this one keeps doing the job I need it to do. The rip fence is accurate and easy to adjust, I would want a better quality miter fence the black plastic makes it difficult to see the lines and numbers. This is the saw if you're on a budget.

I just installed an oak staircase leading to my basement and needed something to rip the treads and risers better than a circular saw. I am a novice at table saws so I bought this based on some online recommendations. Turns out this was just what I needed to do the job. Factory settings were accurate so I didn't need to adjust. The ripping fence has a ruler on the slide that is also accurate. It took some work to assemble. Again, I am a novice on table saws and the instructions seemed out of order. There was a Styrofoam block beneath the table and it took me a while to figure out that you need to tilt the saw blade to the 45 degree angle to get it out so give yourself an hour. But the saw itself works great. I bought a separate 60-tooth blade to cut the finished oak and made nice clean cuts. I would recommend this to anyone who is a weekend do-it-yourselfer like me.

I've only owned it for a couple of months, so I can't comment on long-term reliability. I have used it for a number of projects, and it has performed well. It has a surprisingly powerful motor and cuts through 4x material without bogging down. It is easy to set up and tear down, and it takes up very little space when not in use. The rip fence is accurate and easy to adjust, and the table extensions make it easy to rip 4x8 sheets of plywood. Blade changes are easy, and the blade guard and anti-kickback pawls can be removed without tools. The only thing I don't like is that there is no dust collection system. The dust and chips just fall out of the bottom of the saw. All-in-all though, it's a nice saw, and I recommend it.

Since it wasn’t available at my local Home Depot i took advantage of the free shipping and had it delivered to my house. UPS delivered it on schedule and the box arrived in very good condition. Assemble instructions are straight forward and it took about 90 minutes to setup and make slight adjustments to the fence to get it aligned properly. As reviewers have stated, I also ordered a fine-tooth blade, however I found the supplied blade was sufficient for my cutting needs. I ripped several 2X4 and the saw preformed faultlessly. The 15amp motor easily ripped eight-foot-long stock and didn’t bog down. So far I extremely pleased with this buy and would recommend this saw to anyone with a limited budget.
