Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DanBarnacle Shockingly Good Sander for the Price!
I love this sander! I've been using it to sand 2x4x6" blocks for a new business venture and I'm continually amazed at how well it's working! I've sanded over 200 blocks and the thing just keeps going ... it works surprisingly well and I would highly recommend it for the price. If you just need a sander around the house or have a couple big projects to finish up, this hand sander is well worth the price!

The drill fits well in my hand and is easy to control. Inserting sandpaper is not simple, but straightforward and cutting a full sheet into 4 is the best value for supplies.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MalamuteMom High hopes dashed with first use
I was thrilled to get this as a present as I started refreshing my craft room-- paint, shelves. The dust collector and sandpaper clips are great concepts, but poor performers.
As a previous reviewer stated, there's no way to thoroughly clean the collection cup and there is no hose connection adapter built into the sander so you still have the dust issue unless you duct tape on a hose. Ok, I can do that.
HOWEVER, after changing the first 1/4 sheet, the clips started to fail and the sandpaper stared to shift then shred where it was supposed to be attached. (I did not apply extreme pressure.) I gave up and went back to hand sanding off the previous paint drips. Onto sanding the shelf feet. By the third sheet change, the bottom clip failed completely. There are no instructions on how to adjust or fix the issue. Since it's been several months between the first use and the second, it's no longer covered.

Used for one simple shelf project and the plastic tab on the wire that holds the paper in place broke off during operation. 30 minutes into the second project the wire will not hold the paper in place. Don't waste your money on this sander, spend a few more dollars and get one that will last.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Palladino Great little sander that gets the job done!
Easy to use. Compact and not too heavy. I used it to sand down dried primer paint runs. Easy to load, worked great and an excellent price point, too!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Scatterwitts filter works great until it doesn't
The filter really cuts down on free flying dust and I was diligent in cleaning it out regularly, making it a habit to empty the canister each time I replaced the paper. Using a large, cheap water color brush I gently encouraged as much dust as possible out of the canister but the design of the canister is, well, it's just stupid: there are 'shoulders' that catch dust almost at the hole where the dust comes out and they hold the dust inside. Tapping it while rotating the caster alllows you to shake out more dust but there is no way to truly empty it. The instruction manual states that the dust which remains does not impair it's efficiency but this is not true. The longer I used it the thicker the layer of non-removable dust became and there is no way to open the canister.
I have not experienced the problem with the wire hold-downs others have complained of. This may be because I've used sanders with this type of hold-down for over twenty years I am familiar with the lift/rotate movement and pressure required. I think others exert too much pressure and stress the wire.
I would definitely NOT recommend this sander for a person who wanted to add to their long-term tool collection. If you need a sander for one project and treat it as disposable I say go for it. It's an inexpensive item. If you expect to use it for several projects you'll be disappointed. Spend more for a Makita or Bosch (and lock them away where they won't get stolen). They will work long term and won't let you down.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BetsyAnn Good tool, but with design flaw
I've had to replace the pad twice in one year... the pad holds the clips in place and they hold the sandpaper onto the pad. The machine vibrates those plastic tabs right off of the metal clips. I am not kidding. The first time it happened, I was sanding a flat surface, like a table top, and all of the sudden a plastic tab goes flying off. I used needle nose pliars to release the metal clips to replace the sandpaper until I could get a new pad ordered. I am getting ready to order yet another pad... because this time, both plastic tabs have vibrated off. By now, I could have just bought another machine. Otherwise, the size and weight are GREAT, and it works very well.
