band saw not easy to install. blade popped off when cutting a curve. was not expecting the saw to cut curves like a scroll saw, but was expecting tighter curves then it can do. other operations, the saw performed as expected for a bench top tool.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by toolman nice little band saw
I read the reviews for this saw and one said not enough power. I don't know what they were talking about. This unit has plenty of power, it will rip a 2x4 with no problem and cut 3/4 oak on a curve like butter. It has nice features although the rip fence is a little rough but with some care you can set it square and it locks well in place. Considering this is a bonus feature that other saws do not have it is pretty good. I would highly recommend this saw.
Even though the reviews were mixed I wanted to check it out because of the no questions asked Home Depot return policy. I'm glad I did and I won't be using the return policy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ShawnKelley THE BEST BAND SAW by online review!
I purchased this for a special project to cut some aluminum. I was unable to do so with a chop saw and grinding blade so I read online reviews and the Skil Saw was the best rated. When I got it I can see why! It's well built and durable. However it only comes with a wood blade. Would be nice for the money if Skil Saw would put in a steel blade. I bought one at Home Depot online and was able to cut through the aluminum like BUTTER! Cut so easy I was amazed at how easy it was! Now I have tried to cut steel with the metal saw blade and it didn't work. IT was thick steel about 3/16ths thick like the Aluminum was and I wound up having to use a hack saw. I'm sure with a better blade it may work but I didn't have the time. I also would like to have seen a way to use a wet bath of oil to run across the blade or coolant to keep the blade cool but that would require a more professional type band saw for a machine shop application but what do you want for just $129 bucks. Yes, Lowes had it cheaper so HomeDepot matched the $129 price and then beat it by 10% more. The saw works great. It's worth the dough. And I love having it now. Will cut wood without a hitch too! Replacing the blade is super easy! It has a shop vac attachment that allows you too hook up your vacuum to it and suck out any shavings or saw dust. I had to go to Home Depot to get a rubber tube and C clamp apparatus from plumbing to fit my Rigid vac to it but it works great now. Also has an adjustable table and miter guide if you need it and fence. It comes with a bendable light. I recommend bolting it down to your bench through the holes in the base. It also comes with a safety key that you can remove and hide if you have kids so the unit will not turn on when you are not around. Unit only comes in one speed where as the old model it replaced was two speeds. I imagine you could buy a Credenza 300-Watt Plug-In Lamp Dimmer plug from Home Depot and use it to slow the saw speed down for more intricate work. All around a GREAT SAW!

I purchased this saw for Christmas primarily for pinewood derby cars for my grandsons' Cub Scout pack. The first time I went to adjust both the blade and the table the plastic knobs broke with just applying light pressure. This is a great band-saw at a reasonable price and is really good for my intended use but the knobs are not engineered properly and should be metal instead of plastic.

I've been using this saw for a little over 2 weeks cutting 1 3/4 inch Popular stock into tapered chair legs and it has no problem handling the task and is a breeze to use. I am very happy with my purchase and can see using this saw for many years. I have no complaints with the Skill band saw.

I bought this several months ago. I can not get it to cut straight and it has no power. Cutting through a one inch object and it stops.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by GeorgeD Good for up to 3/4" plywood.
Not enough power to cut thicker than 3/4" plywood. I tried a 2" x 4" and saw kept stopping every 1/2". I checked all settings which seemed to be correct.
