Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by fabdad pretty good little saw
I was looking for a bench top band saw for the garage... read a couple of comparisons/reviews on line all putting this band saw in the 2nd -3rd rank of like sized tools and was quite a bit cheaper. It was packed very well and very simple to assemble. It preforms very well... a lot better than I expected for the price especially when re-sawing on 4" red oak. It does have a lot of plastic parts (access doors, knobs, adjustment screws... which I would prefer to be metal but for simple garage use it is OK. Other than all the plastic the only real complaint I have is the work light... Its on the back of the machine (probably the only place they could put it) and really not very functional... I mean who needs the back of the cut illuminated?
All in all it's a good fit for me. I would definitely recommend it to a friend

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ShawnKelley THE BEST BAND SAW by online review!
I purchased this for a special project to cut some aluminum. I was unable to do so with a chop saw and grinding blade so I read online reviews and the Skil Saw was the best rated. When I got it I can see why! It's well built and durable. However it only comes with a wood blade. Would be nice for the money if Skil Saw would put in a steel blade. I bought one at Home Depot online and was able to cut through the aluminum like BUTTER! Cut so easy I was amazed at how easy it was! Now I have tried to cut steel with the metal saw blade and it didn't work. IT was thick steel about 3/16ths thick like the Aluminum was and I wound up having to use a hack saw. I'm sure with a better blade it may work but I didn't have the time. I also would like to have seen a way to use a wet bath of oil to run across the blade or coolant to keep the blade cool but that would require a more professional type band saw for a machine shop application but what do you want for just $129 bucks. Yes, Lowes had it cheaper so HomeDepot matched the $129 price and then beat it by 10% more. The saw works great. It's worth the dough. And I love having it now. Will cut wood without a hitch too! Replacing the blade is super easy! It has a shop vac attachment that allows you too hook up your vacuum to it and suck out any shavings or saw dust. I had to go to Home Depot to get a rubber tube and C clamp apparatus from plumbing to fit my Rigid vac to it but it works great now. Also has an adjustable table and miter guide if you need it and fence. It comes with a bendable light. I recommend bolting it down to your bench through the holes in the base. It also comes with a safety key that you can remove and hide if you have kids so the unit will not turn on when you are not around. Unit only comes in one speed where as the old model it replaced was two speeds. I imagine you could buy a Credenza 300-Watt Plug-In Lamp Dimmer plug from Home Depot and use it to slow the saw speed down for more intricate work. All around a GREAT SAW!

Have used this saw a lot it since I bought it. Works very good. It's light weight allows me to take it where I need it. The only thing I don't like is the fence, hence only 4 stars. It feels cheap and it's easy to lock it in at an angle. I would recommend this saw to any weekend DIY'er

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kellen Good for light duty quick accurate cuts
This saw is great for projects and quick non-commercial work. I had no problems getting clean accurate cuts.
It's not a rock solid tool that you'll be passing down for generations, but the job it does, it does very well. It's light and easy to transport, and easy to keep clean. I don't particularly need to use a band saw very often and for light use this has been great. I like the motto of "buy entry level tools until you break one, then you can justify buying the high end one", rather than the "buy high end so you never have to replace" unless you're sure you'll use it enough to justify. That said I'm only conjecturing on the feel of the tool, it hasn't broken or shown signs of wear on me yet.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BillS50 Decent saw for the money
Good light duty band saw for homeowner use. Powerful motor cut 1" oak plank with ease. The LED worklight is a real plus. The table is a bit flimsy and mine did not really go to level (90 degrees to the blade) even when set at full adjustment. I had to shim one side with a couple of steel washers under the table mounting screws to truly get it level. The mitre guage looks pretty flimsy too although I have not had much real need for it yet. Still... For the price, this is a pretty good tool.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by timtsb Don't buy this saw
The inexpensive price tag is the only thing this saw has going for it. I've had quite a few problems with this saw and Skil's customer service, but I'll simply highlight the most significant problem I have with the saw: it doesn't cut straight lines. I've adjusted the tension & tracking and can't make the problem completely go away. Spend a little more for a higher quality saw.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JoeSeattle great unit for what it does
I had been going to the local hobby shop 10 miles away to use their bandsaw for hobby projects. With the kids getting older and wanting to do more projects it made sense to turn my 'shed' into a workshop.
I am a reader so I spent 2.5 hours reading through the manual to learn every feature and making the adjustments needed. Most of the adjustments were close but not to the specs necessary so I am glad I took the time to go through the entire process. After I finished the table is square to the table and there is no wobble in the blade. Several good safety tips and tips to keep the blade from breaking.
It comes with a 3/8 inch blade so you can only do 3" outside curve cuts unless you get a narrower blade.
The Miter gauge knob screw is too long so it kept catching. I added an extra washer, works fine now.
The fence is not self squaring but gets pretty close, easy enough to use a square. Using the fence reduces the cut length from 9 inches to about 6 inches.
It took me a full half hour to get the table bolted to the saw. one of the holes wast not straight so I had to rethread it by forcing the bolt into the hole. If you need to take the table on and off frequently this would be a concern as it is aluminum.
If you make a lot of bevel cuts and need the fence the max length is 2 inches for a full 45 degree bevel. less if you need a longer piece.
Also when adjusting the table for bevel cuts the adjuster is on the back side so you will need to unbolt the saw from the table to see the needle.
The cover opens easily with the table attached to clean the inside.
Cuts were smooth and clean, easy to push through. I think this will last a long time as long you don't abuse it.
