It had been a while since I replaced my old belt/disk sander. It was a Delta that I purchased about 15 years ago. I guess I suffered sticker shock when I saw what they were going for now, so I opted to get the Skil. It was readily available and the price was right.
WELL, never again. It won't stay in adjustment and makes rackety noises while running. I could tell the minute I unpacked it that it was "cheaply" made.
It has been a while since I had to use it thus the time span from when I received it and now, but after having to use it a lot lately for a project, I really wish I would have spent the extra money and gotten a Delta, Jet or any other brand that is better made and more accurate.
I will admit that the dust collector works pretty good. I'm sure it will service me for a while but I expect failure at any time.

Purchased this model today instead of a Porter model that was $40 more. This was a big mistake. Right out of the box the plastic knob that holds the disc table in position disintegrated while I was tightening up the table. Installed the self adhesive disc pad onto the disc ans had it slightly off center. The paper backer stalled out the motor! This unit has virtually no power. I used a knife to trim the paper back approx. 0.040" and the motor was then able to turn the disc & belt. This is an over priced Hobby tool not for daiily use.

I replaced my old craftsman sander with this new Skil and I love it. The allen wrench tools are securely attached and come in handy for quick adjustments. No wood worker should be without one of these.

I found this product (which is from the Bosch company) generally very solidly built. The only flimsy thing is the little miter gauge which is made from lightweight plastic.
Very little assembly is required and a sanding disk and belt are supplied with the machine so one can be up and running within minutes of opening the box.
The ‘table’ at the disc sander can be angled for almost any sanding edge, and the belt sander can be positioned up to 90° vertical. The table can be placed next to the vertical belt too.All very versatile.
The hex wrenches used to adjust the table and belt sander are included and I was pleased to see that the base of the machine has a place for them to clip into so that they do not get lost.
Belts can be changed very easily and the belt tracking adjustment has a lock nut so one does not have to keep adjusting the tracking. Changing the disk calls for removing the table and three screws.
The vacuum port is for 2½” systems which is bigger than my shop-vac pipe so I will probably make a small adaptor for that.
The housing can be bolted onto a workbench but so far I have not found that to be needed as the machine is heavy enough to not wander about.
The current draw while running (not under load) was measured at 3.17 Amps at 119.6 Volts which is 360Watts.
I was able to make nice rounded corners and chamfers very quickly.
I would recommend this to anyone.

So far so good. It does what I need it to do! Not too heavy to move even on table.

Got this combo sander for DIY projects and it does great for coarse sanding. Went to get a fine grit belt and the Diablo 4x36 didn't fit. Looked on Skil Tools website and there aren't any replacement belts available not to mention 6 in disk pads. Tried a Diablo 4x36 belt and it was to big. I'll still us this combo sander until the pads go bad then it will sit until Skil supports it and then start using it again. It is a great combo for me though and I would recommend it with the comment that you need to be aware there may not be any replacement belts available. Maybe a smaller belt would work, I will try the next size down (Diablo 4x24 or 3x24). Am open to suggestions.

A nice solidly built unit for the price. Only downside was that the 6" sanding wheel had a slight wobble as it was not true. This is common with many disc sanders out of the box. Easily fixed by turning the disc with a cutter tool until it was true before applying the sandpaper. Sanding belt works fine.
