4 Volt iXO Vivo Power Cork Screw Drill Kit with LED Light is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea, poor execution in production The SKIL 4-volt IXO power corkscrew could have been a lot better. I wasn't sure what to expect when I requested this product but after using it a few times I have mixed emotions. I list the pro's and con's as I see within this little driver. PROS: -Compact design fits and feels good in palm of hand especially with the rubberized grip -Rapid charging with a lithium-ion battery -Forward/reverse indicator lights -Has some good torque for something so small, the trade off for the torque is the RPM as I mention below in the cons -Comes packaged ideally for gifting-displayed nicely in a windowed box -Driver bits, corkscrew, foil cutter, and rubber stopper accessories included -It has a flashy nice look (red with some black rubber accents/flare) CONS: -Forward/reverse/lock switch is too prone to switching with no knowledge (I would barely set the tool down in between screwing some screws and would pick it back up only to find that the switch had been bumped to lock or reverse) -Site-Light is very inadequate as it is more of a dull yellowish light, hardly enough to add anything extra to your working area -One-speed driver and it happens to be rather slow (this isn't necessarily a bad thing because like indicated above it has some good torque) but don't expect to be zipping away at too many screws with it -As another reviewer indicated the corkscrew works well but was the screw inside the shroud does not sit center and kind of chews up the side of the cork but does still extract it With that said, l I don't foresee myself grabbing at this driver very often but it won't sit completely idle in my arsenal of tools either. As a cabinet/furniture maker I could see myself using this driver for mounting the euro-style hinges to face frames and cabinet doors as it has that nice steady drive with plenty of torque. It is compact enough to get into those tighter spaces and would work great for all the little adjusting those hinges tend to need. I'll have to find a way to make the forward/reverse switch a little more sturdy. My wife is the main wine drinker and while impressed with the ability to pull a cork she didn't feel it was something she would use over her other corkscrews. She did however enjoy the foil cutter and the rubber stopper included. With just a little bit more quality control within production this tool has potential to be something handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IXO Vivo Wine Opener I absolutely LOVE my IXO Vivo wine-opener! It's such a simple idea -- add a wine opener to a cordless screw driver -- and it's such a FANTASTIC one! The wine attachment is simple to attach to the screw driver and pops out the cork in a few seconds flat. I've always been one to be a little impatient when it comes to opening wine bottles and because of that I end up pulling the levers too early which results with cork in my wine! The IXO Vivo is so easy to use I'll never have that problem again. It's also really great to have around the kitchen for any loose odds and ends - such as tightening a loose electrical socket cover. I would highly recommend this product to anyone -- having the IXO VIvo around really does make my life easier in the kitchen -- sometimes it's all about the little things!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A novelty corkscrew/screwdriver that really works! What an excellent gift for a wine lover! This is not only a fun novelty corkscrew for opening wine bottles, but also a useful tool to have around the house. This Skil tool is just the right size, not big and bulky, yet has enough power to also complete small jobs around the house when not opening wine. It comes in an attractive display box for gift giving and the instructions (with illustrations) are clear. The lithium battery is a 'thumbs up'! Another nice extra feature is the light that tells you when the battery needs charging. I find it very comfortable in the hand, especially with the rubberized grip. The corkscrew is very easy to use and I had no problems. I like the wine stopper that is provided - so much easier than trying to get the original cork back on! For use as a driver, it has an easy-to-reach forward/reverse button and green arrows that light up to indicate the direction. The yellow site-light in front comes in handy for locating the screwhead faster - gives that little bit of extra light you may need. Included are some basic bits, but accepts any 1/4" hex bits. Having a large collection of novelty wine openers, this one impressed me and will certainly not retire into 'the drawer' with the others! It is well worth the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The iXO Vivo is a fun way to open a bottle of wine The Vivo takes away the fear that you may break the cork when opening a bottle of wine. Taking the cork out of the wine bottle is extremely care-free. The only caveat that I have is that the cork is a little hard to take out of the attachment once removed from the bottle. Other than that I think this is a great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice gadget I acquired this item mainly for the wine bottle opener. Much to my surprise, this thing worked great! I would recommend reading the instructions as it was not entirely intuitive to use. Nonetheless, the cork came out of the bottle with surprising ease. In addition, I had no problem ejecting the cork from the opener. I also used it as a power screwdriver and it seemed to work fine. Hopefully, the rechargeable lithium battery will last for many years. Otherwise, the quality seemed slightly subpar. For example, the corkscrew was not centered in the attachment. In addition, it seemed a bit expensive. Overall, this novel gadget is a great "toy" and I am pretty happy with it. I would also add that it came in nice packaging and would make a good gift!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handy Gadget I actually did use this to open a bottle of wine over the Thanksgiving holiday, and, it worked as indicated. I will probably use it more as a great screwdriver to keep in the kitchen ... I have grabbed it several times already for various projects I have been working on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very cool Corkscrew I think this is a very cool corkscrew. At first I thought, what a gimmick to get people to buy the power screwdriver, just add a corkscrew. But its actually simple and works very easy. Just hold the thing on the top of a bottle of wine and pull the trigger. It screws in then pulls up the cork. If the cork is a little long you have to pull the last little bit of it out. Then just hold onto it, reverse the power driver, and pull the trigger and it screws out of the cork and spits it out in you hand. I have several cork screws in my Kitchen junk drawer and none of them work even close to as well as this thing does. The thing now is I'll have to get another one for my workshop for the power screw driver so I can leave one in the kitchen for opening my wine. I highly recommend this little jewel for anybody that's tired of messing around with all those other corkscrews that don't quite work right. And its perfect for all you tool nuts out there. I know, I'm a retired machinist & a tool nut, and I love this little gizmo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good! The somewhat bizarre combination of cordless screwdriver and corkscrew came with a low expectation of quality and usefulness. I was pleasantly surprised, however. My first impression was that the packaging was clean and neatly put together. A lightly frosted cover slides off of the main box, revealing a hard plastic tray with each accessory in its own recessed compartment. The tray lifts out revealing the 110v charger and instruction book. The accessories include the standard straight blade and phillips head screw bits, as well as a corkscrew, foil cutter, and bottle stopper! After charging the tool the recommended 3 hours, I got to work putting the screwdriver through its paces. First, I tried the corkscrew on a bottle of wine. I was surprised that the corkscrew attachment was simple to use, effectively removing the cork. Removing the cork from the attachment took a little more effort, but no more so than from an ordinary corkscrew. Ok, the corkscrew attachment worked, though something of a novelty. Though marketed as a "Power Corkscrew", I found that the real test of the tool was in using the screw bits. I was surprised that 1.) the battery lasted as long as it did, and 2.) that it had as much torque as it demonstrated. I placed a rubber band around the trigger, set a timer, and found that after 35 minutes the tool became a tad warm and was still going strong! Since a simple screw insertion/removal takes only about 3-5 seconds, that's enough battery life for over 700 screws (or corks!). The screwdriver had enough torque to insert and remove number 8 woodscrews into hardwood, which was another surprise. The cordless screwdriver is ergonomically designed and fits comfortably in my hand. It features forward and reverse, with indicator lights, as well as an LED light to illuminate your project. It is compact, comfortable, and utilizes a powerful Li-Ion battery. My only complaints are with the packaging. Instead of a sliding cover, a cloth piano hinge with either a plastic snap or a Velcro closure would be more convenient. Obviously, a more substantial compartmented case would be welcome (ballistic material, for instance), but I am sure would add to the cost. In addition, the hard rubber material which serves to hold the screwdriver bits together tend to hold the bits too tightly, making it more difficult than it should be to remove and use the bits. Though actually marketed and labelled a "Power Corkscrew", I will continue to use this little screwdriver to remove and replace wall plates, hinges, fixtures, AND wine bottle corks. It's very cool!
