The somewhat bizarre combination of cordless screwdriver and corkscrew came with a low expectation of quality and usefulness. I was pleasantly surprised, however.
My first impression was that the packaging was clean and neatly put together. A lightly frosted cover slides off of the main box, revealing a hard plastic tray with each accessory in its own recessed compartment. The tray lifts out revealing the 110v charger and instruction book. The accessories include the standard straight blade and phillips head screw bits, as well as a corkscrew, foil cutter, and bottle stopper!
After charging the tool the recommended 3 hours, I got to work putting the screwdriver through its paces. First, I tried the corkscrew on a bottle of wine. I was surprised that the corkscrew attachment was simple to use, effectively removing the cork. Removing the cork from the attachment took a little more effort, but no more so than from an ordinary corkscrew. Ok, the corkscrew attachment worked, though something of a novelty.
Though marketed as a "Power Corkscrew", I found that the real test of the tool was in using the screw bits. I was surprised that 1.) the battery lasted as long as it did, and 2.) that it had as much torque as it demonstrated. I placed a rubber band around the trigger, set a timer, and found that after 35 minutes the tool became a tad warm and was still going strong! Since a simple screw insertion/removal takes only about 3-5 seconds, that's enough battery life for over 700 screws (or corks!). The screwdriver had enough torque to insert and remove number 8 woodscrews into hardwood, which was another surprise.
The cordless screwdriver is ergonomically designed and fits comfortably in my hand. It features forward and reverse, with indicator lights, as well as an LED light to illuminate your project. It is compact, comfortable, and utilizes a powerful Li-Ion battery.
My only complaints are with the packaging. Instead of a sliding cover, a cloth piano hinge with either a plastic snap or a Velcro closure would be more convenient. Obviously, a more substantial compartmented case would be welcome (ballistic material, for instance), but I am sure would add to the cost. In addition, the hard rubber material which serves to hold the screwdriver bits together tend to hold the bits too tightly, making it more difficult than it should be to remove and use the bits.
Though actually marketed and labelled a "Power Corkscrew", I will continue to use this little screwdriver to remove and replace wall plates, hinges, fixtures, AND wine bottle corks. It's very cool!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MarilynB A novelty corkscrew/screwdriver that really works!
What an excellent gift for a wine lover! This is not only a fun novelty corkscrew for opening wine bottles, but also a useful tool to have around the house. This Skil tool is just the right size, not big and bulky, yet has enough power to also complete small jobs around the house when not opening wine. It comes in an attractive display box for gift giving and the instructions (with illustrations) are clear. The lithium battery is a 'thumbs up'! Another nice extra feature is the light that tells you when the battery needs charging. I find it very comfortable in the hand, especially with the rubberized grip.
The corkscrew is very easy to use and I had no problems. I like the wine stopper that is provided - so much easier than trying to get the original cork back on!
For use as a driver, it has an easy-to-reach forward/reverse button and green arrows that light up to indicate the direction. The yellow site-light in front comes in handy for locating the screwhead faster - gives that little bit of extra light you may need. Included are some basic bits, but accepts any 1/4" hex bits.
Having a large collection of novelty wine openers, this one impressed me and will certainly not retire into 'the drawer' with the others! It is well worth the price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tom3 I use this whenever I can
To be honest, I got this more for it's use as a small cordless screwdriver than for the corkscrew but I was curious how well it worked.
I don't consider myself on oenophile but I've had my fair share of wine, tried different corkscrews and have even made my own wines. I thought I would hate the corkscrew and love the drill but the corkscrew is pretty cool.
The kit comes in a nice package that makes it an attractive looking gift. It comes with a foil cutter, corkscrew attachment, rubber stopper, a small number of screw bits and of course the drill and charger.
Some people have a hard time uncorking wine bottles for various reasons. No matter how hard they try it frequently doesn't go smoothly. The Skil iXO Vivo corkscrew kit makes it easy to uncork a bottle. For an intimate dinner this isn't something I'd whip out because the wirring sound of the drill tends to ruin the mood. In those situations it's more appropriate to pull out a waiter's corkscrew and use it to gently ease the cork out of the bottle. For parties where a lot of bottles are opened or if you're opening the bottles before guests arive or in the kitchen then the Skil iXO Vivo is an easy way to open a bottle or a whole case. It's also a fun to use and guests can get a kick out of seeing it in action. I did have a problem with one bottle though because the rim was too wide for the opener to fit around it.
The rubber stopper that comes with the kit works well and looks nice with it's bright metal top but I did notice a very strong smell on it. I washed it a few times and the smell seems to have gone away.
As a small cordless driver it's great. A lot of people I know, including myself, have gone through many different cordless drills. They're great tools for a professional but for the average DIYer who only uses it occassionaly it can be a pain to use and expensive considering how frequently those expensive batteries die. Most of the time I'm using my drill as an electric screwdriver. The bulk and weight of a regular cordless drill makes it cumbersome even though I have a higher end 3/8" 18v Li-ION cordless drill.
A smaller cordless driver like this Skil iXO Vivo can handle most of the tasks I normally use my cordless drill for but it's lighter and easier to handle. The Skil iXO Vivo can fit in a jacket pocket so it's easy to bring it out for a project and I don't have to worry about my expensive drill slipping off it's belt hook and breaking when it hits the floor.
It's a great tool for driving and removing screws. I've used it to drive self tapping wood screws into 3/4" plywood (without pilot holes) to mount hinges in a cabinet I built, attach a half dozen drawer slides, remove and reattach a door to it's hinges, I even used it on my computer when I was replacing some components as well as a number of other small projects. I wound up using it almost every day for the first week that I got it and very frequently after that.
The drill has plenty of power for the small tasks it's designed for but don't expect to hang drywall with it or drill big holes in masonry. The drill charges fairly quickly and holds it's charge well for such a small tool. The light on the drill is a nice touch and combined with the light weight makes this tool much easier to use for single handed operation compared to my other drills. The LED light on the end of the drill comes on when you press the trigger. If you just barely press down on the trigger you can get the light to come on before the drill starts spinning.
I did notice that I sometimes bumped the direction switch when using it. The small size makes it a bit awkward to hold with a traditional pistol grip but if you also have big hands try holding it with your tumb and forefinger on the sides of the motor rather than on the grip. That seemed to be the most comfortable for me. The driver takes standard 1/4" hex bits so even though this particular version of the kit didn't come with many bits, it's not hard to find bits to fit it. If you already have a quick change bit system, those bits should work with this Skil iXO Vivo driver.
The quality of the tool also impressed me. This is not some cheap plastic toy. It looks and feels like what it is, a miniature version of a good quality cordless drill. There's no clutch or variable speed control but those aren't features that I have missed. The rotation of the bit isn't very fast, nor is the tool so powerful that I have had to worry about driving a screw in too far or too fast. This isn't the tool I reach for if I'm planning to install a new kitchen but I reach for it more often than my other drills since I got it. It comes in very handy and makes a lot of different DIY projects go quicker and easier.

This makes opening multiple bottles of wine for holiday events and easy and fun job. Instead of tedious hand openers, try this gizmo! I have used the so called "rabbit" style openers too, and they are OK but eventually break. This uses drill power to provide the twisting action so it's much easier on your wrist. It looks cool in use and is always a conversation starter!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by vgvg1 A nice gadget
I acquired this item mainly for the wine bottle opener. Much to my surprise, this thing worked great! I would recommend reading the instructions as it was not entirely intuitive to use. Nonetheless, the cork came out of the bottle with surprising ease. In addition, I had no problem ejecting the cork from the opener. I also used it as a power screwdriver and it seemed to work fine. Hopefully, the rechargeable lithium battery will last for many years. Otherwise, the quality seemed slightly subpar. For example, the corkscrew was not centered in the attachment. In addition, it seemed a bit expensive. Overall, this novel gadget is a great "toy" and I am pretty happy with it. I would also add that it came in nice packaging and would make a good gift!

I absolutely LOVE my IXO Vivo wine-opener! It's such a simple idea -- add a wine opener to a cordless screw driver -- and it's such a FANTASTIC one!
The wine attachment is simple to attach to the screw driver and pops out the cork in a few seconds flat. I've always been one to be a little impatient when it comes to opening wine bottles and because of that I end up pulling the levers too early which results with cork in my wine! The IXO Vivo is so easy to use I'll never have that problem again.
It's also really great to have around the kitchen for any loose odds and ends - such as tightening a loose electrical socket cover. I would highly recommend this product to anyone -- having the IXO VIvo around really does make my life easier in the kitchen -- sometimes it's all about the little things!

We got this as a gift at a work party. The person who won this wasn't a wine drinker. He knew that I drank plenty of wine so he gave it to me!!! Lucky Me!! When we have people over, everyone wants to open the wine!!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Caleb The iXO Vivo is a fun way to open a bottle of wine
The Vivo takes away the fear that you may break the cork when opening a bottle of wine. Taking the cork out of the wine bottle is extremely care-free. The only caveat that I have is that the cork is a little hard to take out of the attachment once removed from the bottle. Other than that I think this is a great product.
