Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nothappy123 A great bench tool for everyone!
I replaced my old craftsman sander with this new Skil and I love it. The allen wrench tools are securely attached and come in handy for quick adjustments. No wood worker should be without one of these.

I'd been looking at bench-top sanders for several months. I decided on the Skil when I saw the introductory price.
The sander was easy to assemble and mount to an existing tool stand.
This is a sturdy, well-designed tool which I expect to last a long time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mixmox Very solid machine
I found this product (which is from the Bosch company) generally very solidly built. The only flimsy thing is the little miter gauge which is made from lightweight plastic.
Very little assembly is required and a sanding disk and belt are supplied with the machine so one can be up and running within minutes of opening the box.
The ‘table’ at the disc sander can be angled for almost any sanding edge, and the belt sander can be positioned up to 90° vertical. The table can be placed next to the vertical belt too.All very versatile.
The hex wrenches used to adjust the table and belt sander are included and I was pleased to see that the base of the machine has a place for them to clip into so that they do not get lost.
Belts can be changed very easily and the belt tracking adjustment has a lock nut so one does not have to keep adjusting the tracking. Changing the disk calls for removing the table and three screws.
The vacuum port is for 2½” systems which is bigger than my shop-vac pipe so I will probably make a small adaptor for that.
The housing can be bolted onto a workbench but so far I have not found that to be needed as the machine is heavy enough to not wander about.
The current draw while running (not under load) was measured at 3.17 Amps at 119.6 Volts which is 360Watts.
I was able to make nice rounded corners and chamfers very quickly.
I would recommend this to anyone.

Assembly was easy, and belt alignment was dead on.
I did have to change to less abrasive disc/belt. For my use the original disc/belt took too much material. Other than that, it's great.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cptjack No replacement belts
Got this combo sander for DIY projects and it does great for coarse sanding. Went to get a fine grit belt and the Diablo 4x36 didn't fit. Looked on Skil Tools website and there aren't any replacement belts available not to mention 6 in disk pads. Tried a Diablo 4x36 belt and it was to big. I'll still us this combo sander until the pads go bad then it will sit until Skil supports it and then start using it again. It is a great combo for me though and I would recommend it with the comment that you need to be aware there may not be any replacement belts available. Maybe a smaller belt would work, I will try the next size down (Diablo 4x24 or 3x24). Am open to suggestions.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Otis Over all I am happy with the product .
I cannot recommend this product because when I took it out of the box I tried the belt tightener and the one weld holding the bottom plate give way . I was able to fix it myself by installing four small bolts to hold it in place which was cheaper to do than send it in and then wait for a new one . Someone else may not be able to do this , my wife was more upset than I because it was A Christmas present .

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JoeSeattle Great mix of power and portability
Easy to setup to get started. Took me half an hour to read the manual and go through each step before I was sanding.
Swapping the belt is a snap, about 5 seconds literally.
Not sure if you can swap the disc as it is glued on with adhesive. A removable disc plate would be a good idea so you can use different grades of paper without having to toss the paper disc. You can swap the belt and put it in the vertical position to a similar effect.
Switching to vertical position also takes about 10 seconds including repositioning the table. Although it takes another 30 seconds to reposition the unit if you bolt it down as required in the instructions. (after you predrill the holes). I think the next project will be a lockable turntable to swap often and quickly.
Adjusting the tracker on the belt took some getting used to. There is a delay so use the suggestions in the manual and switch the motor on and off quickly then use the belt tension lever to recenter the belt. Once it was tracking properly I was able to put down a lot of pressure without it moving or lagging.
This is a great mix of portability and size for your small to medium size projects.
