I bought this saw because of the Skil name. It's not light, but no saw with a 15 amp motor will be. It's comfortable to use, has lots of power, and the depth scale on the guard is handy. I used this saw to cut a lot of T&G 2X4 pine, both cutting an ripping, and it does a great job. I'm looking forward to many years of use from this Skilsaw.

My old saw died in the middle of a deck project when a new saw was not in the budget so buying was all about accuracy and price. This saw is very smooth, stable, well balanced -- in its construction, on the wood, and in your hands. The weak point is the stamped steel foot plate -- you'll have to treat it very gently to get a long accurate life out of it... the only reason I almost didn't buy it. In every other respect, it's outstanding!

Just bought a new Skilsaw and it came without a carrying case. I have had Skilsaws for years and all came with a carrying case. It is a shame the carrying case is no longer included.
