Customer Questions & Answers

How do you put paper on

Asked by: AR
Thank you for your question. The Octo sander uses hook and loop backed sandpaper which grips the backing pad when applied with moderate pressure. Be sure to align the sanding sheet holes with the holes in the backing pad to allow the dust extraction system to function then press in place. To change, simply peel off the old sandpaper, remove dust from the backing pad if necessary and press the new sandpaper in place.

Customer Reviews

Factory Reconditioned Corded Electric Octo Detail Sander Kit with Pressure Control is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great sander but attachments poor quality I bought this about 3 weeks ago. I was excited to use it because of the attachments. I tried to put the attachment support plate on, but it would not "snap" into position. I looked at it closer as saw that the small black clips were broke off. I took it back to the store and got a new one after checking it at the store to make sure it was not broke. I attached the new attachment support plate and used it for about 10 minutes before I noticed black shavings coming out of the sander. The bottom part of the attachment support plate was no longer secure and the back shavings were from the clip holders rubbing off. I love the sander but now I can't find any place that sells just the attachment support plate. Very disappointing as this is the one piece that I really need to finish the job I started.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult to use I bought this yesterday, and found accessories difficult to attach. I was excited to see all the different accessories and ability to sand difficult places. Which would have been terrific except the backing pad is impossible to remove. I even had someone hold the sander while I pushed the button. The manual is no help. I will be returning and going back to tried and true hand sanding

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Features are OK but not study Got it for Christmas. I had used it for a couple of hours and changed the various heads on the sander. One of the plastic levers on one of the sanding heads just snapped off. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so good review I bought this little gem to do detail sanding with. After only one project the plastic tabs that hold the sanding attachments on were worn completely out, therefore it doesn't work anylonger

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great concept, Poor execution Bought my sander only 1 WEEK AGO, and I am ready to return. The attachments could be perfect for any project, but the sandpaper falls off of all the attachments as soon as the sander is started, with the exception of the extension plate. Now the latches that hook in the attachments have broken, so I cannot use that anymore either. The microfilter dust canister at the rear keeps falling off due to poor sealing. Also, the backing to some of the attachments came off when removing the sandpaper, becoming useless. I have been a Skil fan for years, and they usually serve me well, but I would not recommend this product to ANYONE. Needs to be taken back to the factory and rethought.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trouble with Octo Sander I wish I'd read the review before buying this product. I love the sander itself. It's easy to handle and I like all the attachments. I don't like that I've only used it a few times since I bought it and the base plate has already snapped off because the prongs broke. I am also disappointed with the way the attachments are holding up. The velcro is coming apart from the attachment itself in several places on several attachments, causing the sandpaper to slide or not stick at all. Back to the drawing board!
