Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by warhawkII A great all around multipurpose tool .
I purchased this sander about a week ago but only opened it about two days ago. while inventorying the accessories I found the adapter plate was missing from the box so until I can get one the attachments are useless to me. I also found that there is no different grades of paper available, this disappointed me. The idea was a good one but the lights showing if your using to much or to little pressure should face the user not away from them. I found in the two days I was using the sander that it was very easy to tear up the rubber and the hooks to attach the paper to particularly the corners and sometimes the edges. With that said the sander is still an excellent buy and would recommend it for the beginner and intermediate DIY.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SusieQ Great Idea, Terrible Quality
I love the idea of this sander with all the attachments that allow for sanding almost any type of surface. The problem with it is the quality. I've only used it a couple of times and the things that hold the plates on has melted. The only way I can use it is as a regular mouse type sander - can't use any attachments. Wish I had read some reviews before I purchased!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by K9justice521 Excellent concept, poor design in some areas
I bought this sander to help me refinish a mission style table and chairs with lots of grooves and tight places. The attachments that come with the sander are perfect for getting into hard to reach places. It's very effective in these areas HOWEVER, the primary attaching point for the accessory adapter is a weak spot. I give it 5 stars for the idea and potential.
When using the accessories, you have to put on a specific base on the bottom of the sander. This connects to two tabs on the bottom of the sander. The tabs wear very easily to the point that it will no longer stay attached. It's not a simple matter of buying a new piece because the piece with the tabs is the actual base of the sander. for design and durability i give it 1 star.

Just purchased the Skil sander. It is very easy to change attachments. Very nice feel to your hand. All of the attachments allow the user to sand almost any surface. The surface finish is consistently smooth.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by wpipkin7890 Attachment support plate wore easily
The attachment support plate attachement connections wore out only after a couple of days use. Support plate will not stay attached as the plastic connectors that hold the attachement in place.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by tpmcclu Good design concept but poor quality/reliability
The Velcro pads that secure the sandpaper has came off almost all the attachments. The sander has had very little use and disappointed with quality of sanding pad/attachments. I'll try giving a call to Skill customer service and update following on their response.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BigM44 Good idea. Poor quality!
Worked great for a short period, then heat melted the small plastic latches that hold the pad onto the unit. Not much good when the sanding pad keeps popping off every time you turn it on!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lucy9990 Bad design, great idea.
I bought the Octo Sander 4 weeks ago and it worked great until the heat
From using it melted the clips in the main plate. Now none of the attachments will stay on. Very poorly designed, if the ayes and clips were metal this would be a great detail sander. It really did reach well into tight spaces and even between deck boards. Do not buy this until they fix the design and use metal plates and clips.
