Answer:
Yes, the unit alone. I live on a boat and I would like to use this unit to turn off and on my hot water heater. I don't want to buy a unit like this and find that it draws more than 0.1 or 0.2 amps.

Exterior use; mounting and weather issue

This question is from 1500-Watt Plug-In ON/OFF Receiver Relay Output for Indoor and Outdoor Wireless Control

I'm considering this receiver for servicing 5 exterior, up-directed, double bulb (150 watts each) flood lamps, to be wired from a single galvanized conduit -- mounted to a rock wall; with a maximum of 1500 watts. Question: is this receiver completely weatherproof? Can it simply rest on the top of the wall, or ground (elevated to keep water from flooding)? Or...do I need to plan for some form of shelter / cover? Transmitters will be about 150 feet away if that matters.

Answer:
this unit is designed as indoor/outdoor. It is water resistant but not waterproof. With that said, it you can put in under some shelter it would be better.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DIYCalgary I use this receiver with a 10 button remote transmitter. This unit controls my low voltage walk lights between garage and house. Very simple - plug it in, press set on control, press program on remote, select button on remote and you are done. My only issue and hence not 5 stars - The all weather cover that I installed on my outdoor outlet in June 2014, as per the latest Alberta (and I suspect Canadian) Electric Code, wants to enclose the plug and feed the cord through a slot in the bottom. The Plug-in Control unit does not work so well because it has a 90 degree plug. A straight plug is required, so I will have to modify the code before I get another unit to run the Christmas lights. Otherwise, all else is good. June 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Skylink Plug-in Control This unit works. Unlike many competitors products. The only one I'd buy again is this one. Good distance and fast reaction to the on/off switch. I have had no cold weather problems either. I use it to control a roof de-icer cable and a string of LED's to show if the de-icer is on or off. Works like a charm and I don't need to worry about running the de-icer when it is not needed. February 17, 2014
