I have existing Slant fin baseboard heat, Do I have to disconnect the water pipes to replace with new ones?
Asked by: Bob
The safe answer for me is to say yes you need to remove the element to change the enclosure. But the truth is I have seen people that were able to do it without. It all depends on how the product was originally installed. The purpose of enclosure only is to act as a pipe chase in new installations not to rewrap existing elements. However this off label use is done frequently with varying degrees of success. I would probably just change the element and enclosure. I would do it during the summer when getting it back on line is no so time sensitive. However I am familiar with draining my system, filling it and purging it, where most are not. Changing the enclosure without damaging the fins or cutting you hands is not easy. Damaged fins don considerably effect the heat output but they can increase the noise that is created during heat up.

Can the brackets be moved? If not, can you tell me how far the brackets are from the ends?

Can the brackets be moved? If not, can you tell me how far the brackets are from the ends?
Asked by: Jack
The brackets are held in a channel in the back plate. As a result they can be slid left or right.

CAN I CUT THE ENCLOSURE TO FIT 29INCHES AND THEN ADD THE END CAPS

Asked by: MOMSTER
Baseboard is cut all the time. In fact many contractors will buy only 8' pieces and cut the pieces they need from long lengths. It is easy to do with an electric chop saw and the correct blade, however it can also be done with tin snips. If you have never used hand snips before, I would suggest you practice first as they tend do wander off a straight line until you get the hang of using them. Thank You, Chris

Do I have to purchase end caps separately?

Asked by: nyi31
Yes the end caps are sold seperately because there are different styles and because baseboard is often installed in series. Meaning a person may use two or more pieces together to make longer runs. If the product came with end caps you would often end up with many unused examples.
