Not sure why people downvoted chris's answer. What he described is correct. To find out how many feet of baseboard you need, you have to calculate heat loss first. You do it room by room using the process and formulas described in ACCA's Manual J. That gives you the heat loss for a each room in BTUs. Then look at the baseboard spec. Calculating how much baseboard you need in a hydronic heating system is done through a process called a heat loss calculation. Often refereed to as an IBR. The process calculates how much heat a structure or a section of a structure looses on the coldest hour of the coldest day of the year. By installing enough capacity to satisfy how much heat is lost on the coldest hour the year you insure the ability to maintain the desired temperature all year round. It is also important make sure the balance of capacity is maintained between all rooms on that zone. So that heat temperature is balanced. As you can imagine the calculation is effected by factors including size, building materials, widows in most importantly geography. The results will be very different for the exact same room if it is in Alaska vs Florida. There are heat loss programs available on line for your use just at there are heat gain programs for determining how much air conditioning should be installed. Answer:
Baseboard is a heat distribution product. Hot water is circulated through the element and heats up. That hot water is typically supplied by a boiler. The boiler could be gas, oil, electric or a number of other fuels. The product itself does not use fuel it is part of a larger system.

Answer:
It has the same outside dimension as 3/4" copper tube. 99% of baseboard produced is 3/4". There is a small amount of 1/2" and 1" produced for special applications. 3/4" is about as close to a "Standard" as you can get.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Recommended choice from a heating contractor overall I would say this is good quality baseboard. compared to the other brand out there which name I cannot say, but I will tell you it's a white color. The slant fin baseboard is a superior choice, it's much heavier metal compared to the other brand. May 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This review is for the product. This Slant Fin baseboard is installed in my house. I have about 76 feet (one small radiator in kitchen) installed in 2 zones. House is now insulated with both fiberglass and cellulose. Heat is oil fired hot water. This baseboard has been in use for 10 years. I have had no problems and the house remains toasty warm, even during the recent 0 degree nights and single digit days. The system is serial, each zone with a circulator. I bought the baseboard in a local Home Depot center. I am rating the product, not the shipping. I would recommend this baseboard. It heats up fast and releases the heat quickly...all it was designed to do. March 2, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good i bought a bunch of these and 1 out of 3 had oversize tubing that would not fit into standard fittings without a lot of sanding. Haven't filled the system yet to find out how well the solder joint worked out. Otherwise they were easy to work with. September 30, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Slant fin review Home Depot did me a good job on getting me the units and their service was great. The problem that I have is the poor packaging at the factory caused a lot of damage to the fins on the elements when they were transported. It is my fault for not checking on the quality of the product before I ordered them. I am going to try to find some better built units. February 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by best price around. some damage to fins from shipping, less than the one from PEX. Product installs easy. February 27, 2014
