Questions & Answers

How many sq. ft. can this heater handle without running all the time.

Asked by: plw
I am sorry but there is no relationship between square footage of floor space and the amount of heat needed. As I am sure you can envision the same home if located in Alaska would need more heating capacity than if it were in Florida. The way you determine the necessary heating capacity is to do a heat loss calculation. There are a number of free programs on line for this. You enter certain factors about the structure, such as location, construction type, size, etc. and it will calculate how much heat the building loses on the coldest hour of the coldest day of the year. In a perfect world that would mean the boiler would run constantly on the coldest hour of the coldest day of the year and the temperature would stay constant. Every other hour it would run less. That is how a system is sized. Another way to look at it is that this boiler has 111,000 BTU's of out put. That means it can support 191' of fin tube. As this may be confusing or you may still have questions you are welcome to give me a call at 978 651 3301 Chris

Asked by: bumfish
I am not in a position to say if you are qualified to do this or if you are allowed to do it yourself under PA plumbing code. That would be a question for the code enforcement person in your area; such as the gas and or plumbing inspector. However I do have experience with hydronic heating systems and you are welcome to give me a call to discuss you specific questions. Chris 978 651 3301

Does this boiler heat domestic water

Asked by: Chad
This boiler is not equipped with a a potable hot water heat exchanger. You could used it to make domestic potable hot water in addition to heating water but that would require the purchase of and indirect fired how water heater. This is a type of external heat exchanger. If you have further questions please feel free to give me a call. Chris 978 651 3301

Does this boiler work with radiator system?

I have an old boiler and radiator system for heating in the winter. Can this one replace the old boiler and be connected to the radiator system?
Asked by: UBI
Cast iron radiators could mean you have a water system and that this boiler could be appropriate, but it could also indicate that you have a steam system in which case it would not be appropriate. So I would need to know more about your system in order to render an opinion. You are welcome to give me a call. Chris 978 651 3301
