Product Overview

This unique Sliding Patio Door Repair Kit is designed to repair most all sliding patio glass doors by replacing the sliding door rollers and track system and to be installed by virtually anyone. They work by gluing a hard, slippery plastic to the sliding patio door track and screwing a specially formed, "L" shaped Teflon impregnated bracket onto each end of the sliding patio door. The sliding patio door then slides Teflon on plastic using the specially formed brackets to straddle the existing sliding door track rail the sliding door rollers ride on and use it as a guide so the patio door slides straight.

  • Can be installed with the sliding patio door on and in place
  • Can be installed in an hour or less
  • The sliding patio door will slide like new - quiet too
  • Fits most sliding patio doors up to 8 ft. long
  • Lasts for thousands of cycles
  • Comes with detailed installation instructions
  • Comes in either black or white to match most sliding patio doors
  • Two long strips are 7/16" wide X 1/8" thick X 96" long
  • "L" shaped Teflon Corner Brackets "Ski's" are 3/8" thick X 3" long with a 5/16" slot. Vertical portion is 2" high by 3/16" thick by 15/16" wide.

Customer Questions & Answers

Can you adjust the height of the corners to close gaps

Have a gap when in close the door
Asked by: Boomer
If your gap is between the bottom of the door and the track, this could help close the gap, but note that it will fill that space evenly all the way across the whole doorway, not just in the corner spots. So if you have a gap only in the corners because maybe your door is warped or the corner has chipped off, this will not help. You could not cut this and use this just in the corners, as it would interfere with the door sliding (the door slides on top of this strip). Hope this info helps.

Will this product work for me

My screen door track is brokenbecause of a broken roller in the door
Asked by: Tommy
This is not intended to fix problems caused by a broken roller. You'd need to replace the rollers themselves, and Home Depot does have replacement rollers you can buy.

I purchased in Dec '15 and it's holding up great. The sliding door I used it on is the original, very heavy, 5' wide metal door from the late 60's when my house was built. I had no option to replace the rollers as it was completely shot, not to mention the difficulty of finding the proper replacement hardware. Installation took a bit of time as the hardest part was cleaning the track appropriately. But once that was done, everything went fairly smooth. I was a bit skeptical about the bonding agent holding up over time, but it's still solid! My door is sliding very smoothly and I highly recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Helped but still hard to open Because of the weight of the door it still takes some muscles to push the door. But much better than it was

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This works, but costly for what you get This was fairly easy to install, and resulted in a completely stuck sliding door sliding well. The one issue we had is that it raises the door by 3/8" and that put the door's latch out of alignment. We had to remove the handle and extend the screw holes to make the handle low enough for the latch to work. So, be prepared for the possibility of needing to make adjustments once the track is installed. Also, the instructions don't tell you to do this, but you should raise the existing rollers so that they're above the bottom of the door and out of the way. (If you haven't done this before, there is an adjustment screw just above the bottom of the door at each side.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! So happy about this product I'm so happy that I bought this. It worked beautifully, and it's so much nicer to use my sliding glass door now. Wasn't hard to use. Tried this as a last ditch effort- everyone else told me I was going to have to replace the whole door, etc. Wasn't sure if it would work, so I contacted the company and sent them pictures of my situation. He encouraged me to give it a try and told me that if it didn't work I could get my money back. I needed my husband's help getting the door up so that it wasn't sitting on the area where I needed to install the product But we didn't have to take the door out completely.... just sort of propped it up on one side of the frame that the door slides in.... I was able to take out the broken metal rail, and install the repair kit very easily. Now it just looks great! NOTE: Once it is installed, the smooth sliding is enhanced once you put some silicone spray on the track.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not universal fit - poor customer service The corner pads did not fit my door without modification. In doing so I cracked one (my fault). I was able to modify the pads so they work but are cracked. The door slides much better with the cracked pads on it but after sending a message through the manufacturers website I received NO RESPONSE. I would like to know what I did wrong and possibly replace the cracked pads, but a month later I've heard nothing from the manufacturer. That's no way to run a business! For that I WOULD NOT recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy, unbelieveable practical solution for broken patio door wheels The product was well presented. The installation clearly documented and easy to do. The price so modest compare to the $350.00 a repair company wanted to charge me for removing the door in order to have access to the wheels and install new ones. At $37.00 the solution was genial. Hooray!!! for the inventor. The item should be available in all the stores.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't Work At All This product is great in concept, but the execution did not pan out. Followed the instructions implicitly, made sure everything was spotless, installed the strips, raised the door wheels, etc. In the end, the door is quieter to open and shut than it was before, but it's even harder to push. Maybe there are other types of sliding doors this would work better with, but mine is a standard slider, like you see in every house, and it didn't work at all. Disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product does not work at all Followed prep & installation instructions to the letter. Maxed out height of door with adjustment screws before installing repair kit 'track strips'. Door hung up & did not slide at all; in fact, it bound up and refused to move laterally at all. Simply made situation with door much worse, will now have to install a metal door track replacement. In order to get door to open again, had to remove product with a chisel, clean up glue from track and dispose of. This product may work for some installations per some of the HD reviews, but definitely does not work for all. Unless you're willing to gamble your money, I cannot recommend this product at all.
