Customer Questions & Answers

can it be left out through the winter?

Asked by: LouLou
It's a good idea to remove the pump at the first sign of a freeze as this could damage the solar panels and pump mechanisms. I think the actual bowl and stand can be used year-round.

Okay, when I look at this one in contrast to the same birdbath without the solar panel the bowl looks not just alittle bigger but as much as 3 times deeper. does anyone know exactly how deep this one is? And, how deep the other one is? Appears just 2 to 3 inches deep. the one without the solar panel. So, I don't think I get enough sun to keep the water spraying , and was going to get this one for the deeper bowl. Does it matter that it won't get enough sun and so it won't really operate? Just be a basic birdbath?

Hello, We sell two models of the Acadia - the Acadia Solar Birdbath (Model# 20633R01) and the Acadia Traditional Birdbath (Model# 70022). The solar version is deeper as it requires a reservoir for the patented solar panel and pump system. The traditional birdbath is shallow, a similar depth to a regular (traditional birdbath). The Traditional (no solar) is approx 1.75" deep. The Solar version is approx 3 times deeper as you suggest. You can certainly still use the solar version as a regular birdbath and leave the solar panel it (the center underneath the solar panel has a 3" deep reservoir for the pump which is too deep for birds). Depending upon how much sun you get, you may find it runs. If it is a very shady area without direct sunlight, then it is unlikely work. You can always reach out to our customer service team and they will be happy to discuss with you and so you can make the best decision for your purchase. We also have solar-on-demand styles with a battery feature which may be better for you. We also sell those on Feel free to contact us with questions: Tel: 813.343.5775 (Mon-Fri 9am-6pm EST)

Customer Reviews

Acadia Solar Birdbath is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bird Bath! Very happy with this bird bath. Yes, it does require direct sunshine to make the pump work. I found nice sunny spot in my backyard that keeps it running from 10am to 4pm. The birds love it. I've got a regular bird bath as well and rarely see any birds drinking or taking a bath from it. Not only does this solar one attract birds but I frequently see bees taking a drink as well. I do replace the water daily and rinse out the bowl and pump twice a week. The little filter inside the pump also needs cleaning. Love the frog design. Nice and relaxing to sit near it and listen to the water fountain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SolarArcadia Birdbath I haven't had a bidbath in the yard in ages and decided it was time. I found this birdbath and found it fun & whimsical. It arrived quickly and only took a few minutes to assemble. It's light enough to empty, move and clean, but hefty enough not to get blown over. As other reviews have stated, it does need direct sunlight to run with the sprayer head, and the lack of a battery is its only detriment. I may try to figure out a way to add a battery on this fountain. If it works, I'll let you know what I did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks Nice I'm happy with the bird bath but wish that it had a back up battery so that it would work even when the sun isn't out or when it's behind a cloud. Definitely has to have direct sun. Very happy with the quality although I think it is priced a little on the high side. I was happy that it is fairly heavy so I don't have to worry about it falling over.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute This product was a bit disappointing because the sun has to be directly on the unit in order for it to turn on the water flow for the fountain aspect. Even if the sun is shining, the sun needs to be directly on the unit for it to work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute and Heavy I'm very happy with this, its heavier than I was expecting which is good. I only wish there was a back up battery so that the fountain worked all the time. (It only runs while the sun is out)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking birdbath Looks great in our yard although smaller than expected and solar fountain needs direct sunlight to make its weak pump work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great BB and worth the $$$ Very timely shipping, bird bath went together very quickly. Very nice appreance...motif. When the full sun shines directly on it, it is almost like a miniature Roman fountain...very powerful little solar powered blade pumps that water.....On partly sunny days, not as much of a "power" flow but it flows. Both conditions good because it also oxygenates the water. Beautifully made and not heavy, EZ assembly, and excellent water flow. Worth the $$$

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT according to the birds! This is a lovely addition to my back deck where I have plants and bird feeders. Because this area gets sun from 10 AM through the evening, the birds have the fountain most of the day. Setting it up was SO easy, I could not believe it. The solar unit responded immediately. By the time I had gathered up the box and turned away, a Hummingbird was perched on the side and a Cardinal was awaiting its turn. The traffic has been steady even when the fountain is not operating in the early morning. The only thing I would like to change is to have the solar unit retain energy when the sun is not directly above so that th birds would have the fountain early in the morning. But, I would purchase this again and am recommending it to friends!
