Yes, though you'll have to wait for a few seconds for the water to warm. Doesn't matter - it's a terrific device. Maybe in Alaska the water would take longer to warm up...

Your involvement with the control is minimal and quick - you just adjust the water temp, direction of the water, and push "his" or "hers," and enjoy the result. I had the same thought originally, but now, after using this wonderful contraption, I'm glad the control is fixed in place. Once your preferences are chosen, just push a button.
A side note - once upon a time I was going blind...since then the problem has been corrected. But I learned to do things I thought were impossible. Even if you were totally sightless, a couple of minutes of instruction would allow even a blind person to successfully use the bidet. I would advise taping Braille symbols on the controls...
This is a most wonderful gizmo. I used to be a nurse's aide. So, anything to help patients keep their independence is terrific. I truly understand your desire to have a bidet...Before I got mine, I had trouble "reaching" if my arms were stiff or painful. No more reaching...Every home should have one of these - for health, safety, comfort, and peace of mind/freedom. Read Less

No. The controls are fixed alongside the seat on your right while seated, which I think is better than a remote. The panel helps hide the pipe connections and doesn't need batteries.

I have back problems, too, and all it takes is to look down to the controller. You don't need to twist or turn (except, as I mentioned, moving your butt without leaving the seat, which is not really necessary). I presume you already have a toilet in this location. The water source is already there. The electrical source is another matter. Depending on where the toilet is stationed in the home - on the other side of a bedroom wall, etc., an electrician could easily install a plug from an existing outlet to the toilet wall. The new outlet should be about 12"-16" above the floor, near the tank of the toilet or on an adjacent wall, and it must be a ground fault outlet. The cord from the seat is about 2 - 3 feet long.
At the water source, you will install the included "T" fitting - for two water outlets: one will accept the hose to your toilet tank, the other will accept the included hose to the bidet. Once you have an electrical outlet, the whole process should take less than 15" to complete. There is NO need to disconnect the water hose FROM your toilet - just remove it from the water source only and reattach it when you install the new fitting. Read Less

Answer:
You have to have to be able to unscrew the water supply to your toilet and install the t-pipe and the two supply pipes that come with the unit. The t-pipe allows water supply to the toilet tank and the bidet. You'll need to plug the unit into an electric outlet or use an extension chord to reach one. The outlet should be ground fault protected for safety.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good product Easy to use. Great item. Will recommend to everyone. August 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best bathroom upgrade! This bidet was very easy to install; my 7 year-old did most of the work and I just tightened the bolts. It fit perfectly on my elongated toilet seat. It works nicely with several ways to adjust the temperature and water spray location to customize to each person's specific needs. Very sturdy construction. Nice quiet lid. January 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A little taste of Japan! I was first introduced to this type toilet seat while living in Japan about 10 years ago. I actually bought one and brought it back to the U.S. However, I had to buy a transformer to drop the voltage from 110 to 100 (Japanese standard). That's how much I liked these seats. Glad to see that they are now available in the U.S. This one was a breeze to hook up and it works great! Highly recommend (as long as you can bottle up your man-pride and give it a try)! You will have to have an outlet installed close to the toilet though, otherwise you can use an extension cord. June 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smartbidet This bidet toilet seat was easy to install and works great. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Purchase I'm beyond satisfied with my purchase of the Electric Bidet Seat . The multiple control settings and the heated water is exactly what I was looking for in a bidet seat. The installation was easy with the step by step instructions. My only disappointment is my waiting so long to purchase. I wish the product was available in beige to match my toilet; however, I'm so pleased with the product that I am able to overlook the color contrast. September 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1st Time Bidet user This is the first bidet seat I've ever owned. It was easy to install and it works well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting or needing a bidet, especially since the toilet-bidets are so very expensive! The only small complaint I have is that the nozzle doesn't extend further. Even when fully extended, it isn't quite far enough for me, but I've found a way to adjust. Other then that, and the too short cord that several other reviewers have mentioned previously, I really like it. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Can't get any better This bidet seat is the best product I've bought!!! It was the best decision to buy this product. I'm so happy with it, and I didn't expect the installation to be as easy as it was. I don't think any other similar product beats this Bidet seat for the price. I'm just really happy. Thank you May 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SmartBidet Toilet seat It's a really nice product, we bought one for our grandparents and they loved it! The only thing that I think the company should do, is to notify the buyers (as soon as they're buying this product) that there needs to be a wall plug that is no more than two feet from the toilet seat, (which very few restrooms/bathrooms in America have.) so that you don't have to wait a couple of days extra to use your SmartBidet toilet seat after receiving it in the mail. But other than that minor shortcoming, I would recommend this product to anyone, exspeicaly to people with disabilities, like seniors and physically disabled people. March 8, 2016
