Depends on the ribs.... Probably two large spare ribs or four baby back would fit. Aftermarket rib racks are available which would increase the number quite abit...

Answer:
Pretty much anything you want except pine or cedar. Popular choices are hickory, mesquite, apple or cherry. Oak, maple and other hardwoods are good too.

Hi Ev, you can use a variety of woods for smoking or flavor. You can choose Pecan, Hickory, for some fruited woods like apple, cherry, pear. These will give you different flavors with great taste.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1st Snoker Easy to put together - being a newbie it was probably the best to start with. August 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent COS Is a notch above the cheaper offset smokers but still a cheap offset smoker. Modifications will still be needed to perform at its best. Adding a diffuser plate is highly recommended. July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good smoker Heavy duty smoker fairly easy to put together. Well constructed with easy to read instructions. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than I thought... This smoker is heavier and sturdier than I expected. The manufacturing and fit and finish is excellent. The freight shipping was great, they only drop at the road but the driver was kind enough to lower it into my dad's pickup bed so we could bring it to the house. Took an hour or more to put it together, but it went well and I fired it up right away, great! I burn nothing but mesquite (here in AZ) and so far it's perfect. I am extremely happy, this is a great product at a FANTASTIC price! June 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good value Good Value for the money, assembly is not easy and takes some time. Could use more instruction to season the smoker on his first heating if someone is not experienced. June 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great smoker for the price My husband has a professional meat smoker at home that ran a few grand, but we needed something at the camp so we could smoke some ribs, pork and chicken for our friends and family. Though the metal is not the 1/4" steel that he is always bragging about, he loves this as it's a bit smaller and holds in the smoke and heat. We tried a cheaper brand that rusted out within a year, but this should definitely hold up much longer. May 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This smoker rocks! !!!! I bought this smoker for my son's birthday! He can't stop thanking me he loves this smoker, a big mean machine made of steel with lots of cooking sq footage the price is worth it , home Depot is awesome they assembly the grill for me in time for my son's birthday!!!!! February 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great smoker for the price! If you don't want to spend 2k on a cast iron smoker, this one will get the job done better than any other commercial smoker I have used in the past. the steel is a heavier gauge than other commercial smokers, great firebox, vent etc. January 26, 2016
