I've had my sno-tek 24" for 2 winters now and no problem whatsoever! Easy to maintain and has good power.
The engine is very easy to start! Even when it's been sitting for weeks, switch on, full choke, 3-4 primer shot and 1 pull.
In my opinion the only thing I would change is the first gear. It's a tad too fast.

I purchased the Sno-Tek 28E back in Nov 2010 and having now owned it for a few years I feel I can write an accurate review. We have a large double driveway and this machine has been a stellar performer during each winter season. In the third winter season (2012-2013) I had to replace the carburetor ($75.00) because a rubber gasket inside had dissolved due to using gasoline with ethanol. I now only use high grade gas with no additives and I no longer use any type of gasoline stabilizer when storing away, instead I do a complete fuel drain of the tank, carb and line in the spring.
During this current winter season of 2013-2014, we have experienced some record snowfalls and I could not be happier (or more thankful) that I own this snow-blower. It has been a consummate performer, handling everything from large snowdrifts to that deep pile of wet ân heavy slush left at the end of our driveway by municipal snowplows. To date, it has handled everything I have thrown at it; and it just keeps doing the job.
A few days ago our local newspaper delivery guy threw a rolled-up newspaper onto the end of our driveway where it eventually became covered in snow. Because I did not see it, my Sno-Tek pulled it into the chute where it became stubbornly lodged, causing the engine to automatically shut down. It took me 30 minutes using a crowbar to get it all cleaned out. Then with one pull of cord, the Sno-Tek started-up immediately and worked like champ. I highly recommend this machine.

Picked one of these up during the black friday sale. Decent price ($575) since there were 4 buyers all waiting to load up. SnowTek is the cheaper version of the orange Ariens, but comparing, there's not much difference. A lot of the more expensive machines also use the same engine.
Came in a crate and had to assemble, but anyone with common sense and basic tools can do it. Even went over the entire machine, checked every nut and bolt, cables, etc. and everything looked good.
One exception, the fuel switch was stuck probably from sitting dry for a few months. Popped plastic knob off, turned back + forth with pliers, and put plastic knob back on. Checked oil and filled with fuel.
One pull and it started right up.
Now the fun part.........there is no throttle (which I found on most new machines), so it runs full out all the time. But it's quiet and not really an issue. This thing throws snow a long way. The advertised 40' is pretty close. It plows through drifts that are a foot taller than the front end. The engine powers through without a hiccup. If you hold the handle down, it just keeps on going. Had a few blowers in the past but this one is the best so far. One cool feature is the locking safety handles. Leaves one hand free to move the chute contols without stopping. Not sure how a more expensive one can do a better job. Great product for the money.

We bought this product a few weeks ago and finally had the opportunity to use it!! Before we even got it out of the garage the problems started. The electric start would not work at all, thankfully the pull start worked like a charm. Then on of the skid plates fell off - these came pre assembled (ours came pre assembled without the bolts) So already off to a great start - then we could not get the machine to turn off and had to use the choke to turn the snow thrower off! What a piece of junk. Now were unsure as to if we should stick it out and have it fixed under warrenty or return it and buy one somewhere else?? I would never reccomend this brand to anyone!

I researched this model last year before buying it. All the reviews were excellent!! Last year in Saint John not so much snow. Both times I used it I got my driveway half done before it conked out. Last night I tried to use the blower again and it would not start. I was told at local store that it was under warranty and take it to the authorized dealer. Since I have no means to take the thrower there, it cost me $40.00 to pick it up and $40.00 to bring it back. It seems to me that when you buy an item with a warranty you should not have to continue to pay.
