Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by OK I guess Strange banging sound coming from the snow blower. Happens even when auger stopped...often right after the auger stops. Not sure if this is normal or something is about to blow up inside. Have to bring it in for service myself. I will wait till something blows as I've only used it twice. May be OK? All directions followed on assembly. So far seems to do the job as advertised. Just that disturbing banging whenever the auger is off that is disconcerting. You can see that when the bang happens, sometimes the auger moves a little bit. I guess that's why they give you the shovel to clean it out. November 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by THIS THING BLOWS!!!!!!! Had to replace my old Craftsman 8hp/25 " and research led me to the Sno-Tek 28. I went to Home Depot and looked at one first hand. I was pleasntly suprized with how well built everything was. For example, all the hardware is made from plated fasteners, the dash is metal, the Auger Actuater handle has a cool locking feature , for when you have to turn the discharge cute ,while in use. In short, lots of rust proof METAL componants. The only thing missing is a Headlight.... The price was acceptable also, I added the extra 2 year warranty, and I paid just over 900$with all the taxes included. I would rate this unit at 4.5 if I could. The only deduction would ne for the lack of a headlight. Mac in PG December 29, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Great Product and Overal Excellent Value I recently purchased my Sno-Tek 28 (Dec 2013) and overall, extremely happy. I've compared and researched over a dozen other machines in the similar price range, and the Ariens Sno-Tek 28 is a great machine with excellent value. You're getting 9.5 lbs of torque, 15" wheels, and a 6-speed LCT OHV motor with electric start. The free delivery made this purchase decision even easier. The machine was delivered to my home within one week of my purchase. There is some light assembley required, however, was easy enough to follow the instructions. The machine was shipped with engine oil already, and just needed a minor top-up ( 5w-30 ). The snow blower fired right up with no issues, and sounds great. I haven't tested it yet as there hasn't been any significant snowfall, but I'm sure this machine will deliver on it's promise. There are a varietty of you tube videos on the web, and you can also check out the Ariens web site for additional content and support. December 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by just bought the 28 snow tek just bought the 28 snow tek ,which seem a great machine, bought dec 5 ,2010 as we had a few dumping snow used it right away. need getting used to as the motion and auger control opposite to my old unit. minor thing. Also noticed that the machine was always going left, noticed that the right wheel was not locked ,which i did lock by moving the wheel pin in the lock hole. this must been an oversight @ the store ,other wise machine is great soe far. missed the cable operated front deflector on chute, but just a minor thing . Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly surprised I am pleasantly surprised by the performance of my new Sno Tek blower. It replaces a 16 years old machine having the same 28 in opening yet it is quite a bit smaller and lighter and it performs better than my old machine ever did. The motor is quieter and has less horsepower but the snow throwing cability is just as good. If the long term durability turns out as good, it will have been a great bargain since the old blower cost more 16 years ago! The motor is much easier to start that the Tecumshen is on the older one. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awsome purchase! I purchased this snowblower with intention of not getting to use it with hot weather but yesterdays storm it was awsome eating all the snow it could. I was learning to use it for the first time & it was really user friendly & the few pieces I had to assemble out of the box was a snap. It was ready to go in 20min! I did the nieboors driveways, sidewalks, 2hrs of running barely used any gas! Well worth the $$$, but the sale price was so good also. I was the savior of the nieboorhood for once! Ha Ha! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Delivery time was exceptional; very pleased with that. Putting it together took about an hour due to some trouble interpreting the instructions; it is simpler than it looks. Operates very well. Tried it twice so far (hopefully that's all for this winter) and it worked very well. It is easy to operate. The one thing I probably will order before next winter is a set of chains. All in all delivery, price and operating capability it is a 4 plus. March 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I received my Sno Tek on the warmest day of this winter(+58F). It was a breeze to unpack and assemble. Put some gas in and it fired up right away. I headed right into some snow banks higher than the intake and walked right through it. As you can imagine at that temperature it was rather wet heavy snow. I've only used it once but I am impressed. Bring on the snow! March 12, 2012
