Customer Questions & Answers

does spark plug need adjusting?

I'm purchasing this spark plug for sno-tek 920402 that is four years old; can I install the spark plug without checking the gap size? I have no experience, tools, or knowledge, on how to check and how to adjust. I don't believe I checked gap size last year, and it worked fine. Is the gap pre-set at factory of manufacture?
Asked by: Anonymous
The gap can be pre-set but it is recommended to check the gap to be sure it is correct.

Can I use the same 5W-30 oil in auger gear case and crankcase?

I just bought the sno-tek snow blower. The auger case did not come with a dip-stick so I can't tell if I need to add more oil or not. Can I use the same oil for both auger gearcase and the crankcase?
Asked by: am
No the gear box takes a different oil then the engine. The gear box will take a part number 00068800 Please check the owners manual on how to measure the oil in the gear case.

how much oil should I put in my brand new sno-tek snow blower model 920402?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello and thank you for your question. You haven’t specified if this question it’s in regards to oil level in auger gear case or oil level in crankcase? In any case, gear cases are filled to the correct level at the factory and unless there is an evidence of leakage there should be no need for additional lubricant. Engine on the other is shipped with 5W-30 oil in crankcase and for the exact level that is required for your unit you would need to refer to the ENGINE manual that was shipped with your unit. Typically crankcase it’s filled so that once measured it indicates that oil level it’s in between "min" and "max' on the dipstick. Hope this helps. George How-To-Community.

I just got a compact 22 with the OHV engine and with the newer gearcase. I measure the gearcase level and its measure under 1.6 inch (it's at 1.5)

I just got a compact 22 with the OHV engine and with the newer gearcase. I measure the gearcase level and its measure under 1.6 inch (it's at 1.5). Per menu it should be between 1.63 - 1.88 in, should I worry?
Asked by: Anonymous
I would recommend adding some oil to the gear case to bring it up to the proper level. The oil to use would be Ariens part number 00068800 which is a 75W140 Synthetic Oil Category GL5 API. The category is very important as this is what adheres the oil to the gears.
