13 in. 40-Volt Hybrid Cordless Electric Snow Shovel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The neighbors were very impressed! Although it is an expensive single purchase, it ends up costing less than the doctor bills from trying to do all the shoveling myself. Note that it is rather heavy for putting it in and out of storage, but once you are using it, you just push it and you don't have to lift it at all. There was a very heavy, icy snow this year, and the snow joe snow shovel did my entire driveway and walkway on one charge. It did a good job of going over places where the path was uneven, and I was also able to maneuver it nicely over some stepping stones. It was also not very loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding snow shovel I just finished moving a 15"" snow off my deck and front porch. I also cleared a path to my bird and squirrel feeders. This cordless Sno Joe is Unconditionally Outstanding. I had a major heart attack in October and my doctor said I can not use the big Craftsman snowblower or use a regular snow shovel, therefore, I purchased this little power model shovel and I have not been disappointed at anytime this winter. We live in NH and this has been a very snowy season for us, but the cordless Sno Joe has been a very good tool. It is easy to use, trows snow a good 20-30 feet, and it is light enough for me to use. It is not a super light model with the battery installed, but it is not too much for me to use. It pushes very easily and even handles snow that is over the top of the scoop; it just blew the snow right up through the top and away I went . I have the Hybrid model, but I have not needed the cord because the battery will last all day.

The battery lasts long enough for me to make a 100 foot path. Our last snowstorm resulted in an icy crust on top of the snow. I had to manually chop the ice off the top before the shovel could plow through the remaining 6".

Does not handle wet packable snow well, but I still found it worth the purchase. It also taught me a valuable lesson. Don't aim the snow you're throwing into the wind. Just don't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does blow snow The blower does a good job blowing the snow and is light weight and easy to handle. The downside is you need to be prepared to be snow covered if there is any wind. Since there is no chute to blow the snow to the side it blows in front of you and you will get snow in your face. I did find the slower you push to blower the less you get in your face.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheaply made Snow Joe plastic blades broke on day one of use. Even a 3/4 inch piece of gravel causes the blade to shatter. Also the battery worked well for a couple of weeks then wouldn't hold a charge long enough to finish our driveway. The instructions indicate that the battery must be stored above 32 degrees F so you can forget keeping it in the garage. With no ability to direct the blown snow left or right it took some getting used to in order to blow the snow off the driveway and sidewalk. Finally, it's pretty heavy so if you have less than about 3 inches of snow it is easier to just use an old fashioned shovel. I like the concept but unfortunately had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great snow shovel, battery lasts surprisingly long The first heavy snow came - around 11 inches - and I was surprised how well this unit handled the tall snow. These units are not quite as efficient as side throw units, but are adequate especially if small size is important. I upgraded from a corded unit and was surprised that the power is similar and I was able to get through my 50 ft long driveway without the battery running out. I especially like that there is an option for a cord - say you forget to charge the battery or in the future if the battery dies, it doesn't just go straight to the landfill.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Snow Job While a performance evaluation of this product will not be possible until the first snowfall (probably still 2 months or more away, here in NY) but, rather will address the mechanical and physical attributes of the product, keeping in mind the intended use, for minimal snow fall (too little to break out the full size snow blower) or to clear steps and small walkways in stages, when the snowfall is significant. When operating from either the supplied Lithium Ion battery or directly from 120 V AC, the impeller rotates with gusto...though with a slight delay after depressing the operating control, to allow the electronics to ramp me confidence that it will throw the snow as advertised. However....this is a HEAVY piece of equipment and, when used on AC without the Battery installed (per the manufacturer's instructions) it is somewhat unbalanced when suspended, as you would if taking 6 inch "bites" of deep drifts. For 6 inches or less of snowfall, when the scraper blade is sitting on the pavement, this will not be a problem. The Hybrid operation is a real plus...the convenience of battery power, when you don't want to trail an extension cord, but the ability to do so if the snow requires more effort than the battery pack can provide (though, with a 3 hour recharge time, one could also just take a hot chocolate break). When used in the "AC" mode, an attachment plug cap is provided for connection to a suitable extension cord, for which a clip is provided to prevent a tug on the cord from separating the connector. I anticipate using this mostly for stair steps and for clearing an area in front of the garage door for the full size snow blower, so battery capacity appears to be adequate for that (will know for sure after the first snowfall). The plastic scraper blade will, no doubt, suffer wear from contact with concrete walks, steps and driveways, but the manufacturer offers replacements for less than $10, so that will be a normal "consumable". The impeller, another part that may be subject to damage if objects in the snow are encountered, is available for about $20...reasonable, considering the size of the part. Two negative observations noted are; One of the screws securing the handle tube to the lower part of the product was inserted at an angle and not fully seated and, the bolt that secures the handle tubes was loose in the packing and had fallen out onto the floor, which I realized only after finding that I was missing a part to put the product together. Once we get some snowfall, it will be possible to more thoroughly evaluate the performance of the product...and see if it deserves an additional start.
