13 in. 40-Volt Hybrid Cordless Electric Snow Shovel is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does blow snow The blower does a good job blowing the snow and is light weight and easy to handle. The downside is you need to be prepared to be snow covered if there is any wind. Since there is no chute to blow the snow to the side it blows in front of you and you will get snow in your face. I did find the slower you push to blower the less you get in your face.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheaply made Snow Joe plastic blades broke on day one of use. Even a 3/4 inch piece of gravel causes the blade to shatter. Also the battery worked well for a couple of weeks then wouldn't hold a charge long enough to finish our driveway. The instructions indicate that the battery must be stored above 32 degrees F so you can forget keeping it in the garage. With no ability to direct the blown snow left or right it took some getting used to in order to blow the snow off the driveway and sidewalk. Finally, it's pretty heavy so if you have less than about 3 inches of snow it is easier to just use an old fashioned shovel. I like the concept but unfortunately had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great snow shovel, battery lasts surprisingly long The first heavy snow came - around 11 inches - and I was surprised how well this unit handled the tall snow. These units are not quite as efficient as side throw units, but are adequate especially if small size is important. I upgraded from a corded unit and was surprised that the power is similar and I was able to get through my 50 ft long driveway without the battery running out. I especially like that there is an option for a cord - say you forget to charge the battery or in the future if the battery dies, it doesn't just go straight to the landfill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight Electric and Battery Operated Snow Shovel I was really excited to get this Snow Joe 13 IN. 40-VOLT HYBRID CORDLESS ELECTRIC SNOW SHOVEL! I can't wait to try it out once it starts snowing at the cabin. I especially like how lightweight this is at only 14.8 pounds. Lithium Ion battery charges in approximately 3 hours and is stated to last 52 minutes. Runs strong but without snow to blow I cannot say exactly how great it will blow but I am hopeful! Rated to blow 300 pounds of snow per minute and throws snow up to 25 feet. That is really impressive for a hand held blower. I especially like that I can use this plugged in or on a battery for those areas that are just beyond the power cord. Advised to be used on light, fluffy, fresh snow and probably won't work well on heavy hard packed snow. Clears a 13 inch path and best used on flat to mild terrain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice option with or without cord This is a nice option for snow removal on a deck or small sidewalk giving the option to use an extension cord or charged battery. I like it and it seems well built, but with a little unexpected heft to it. I am 5'-10" and it seems long to me but we have yet to get a snowfall to full test it out but in comparison to the cord only model, it seems equal just with battery option now. Once you exhaust the battery, you can plug it in or use it with the battery where the cord will not reach. Good options all around for those pesky snowfalls where you don't need to necessarily bring out the big gas powered snow blower and it fits inside an outdoor storage closet without taking up too much room. it is suggested to keep batteries charged and stored indoors where temperature will not drop below freezing as well. I can certainly wait for that first snow, but when it does, I will be prepared.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beats shoveling anyday. With winter rolling around soon, it's good to have something like this whenever the snow comes. I've used several power shovels/electric plows and they all make shoveling snow A LOT easier. This unit should be no different. While I haven't been able to use it on snow (seeing as it hasn't snowed yet), I can say that these power shovels are very much worth the price. I've used electric snow blowers as well as other power shovel devices and all work quite well at clearing snow with minimal effort. This is basically a junior sized snow thrower/blower. Simply plug it in and do your normal shoveling. The two blades will fling the snow in whatever direction you're going. Best practice to do this horizontally and going in the direction with the wind. These smaller sized snow throwers do a good job at throwing/blowing the snow however tends to scatter a bit and, if it's windy, the snow will actually blow back on to the driveway or wherever you're using this. A couple concerns I have with this are; 1. the battery compartment has a plastic cover on it however I don't see any watertight seals on/around it. While it looks pretty well covered, snow/water can get in just about anywhere so there is a possibility that this compartment can get some moisture in it. As it's the battery compartment, this can be a very bad thing especially for durability. 2. Similar to the above, the electric plug is exposed. It does come with a small plastic cap however I don't think it's enough to protect from moisture getting in there. You could zip tie and plastic bag over it for the time being however I think it should be a little more weather proof. Honestly, can't wait until it snows so I can use this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Snow Job While a performance evaluation of this product will not be possible until the first snowfall (probably still 2 months or more away, here in NY) but, rather will address the mechanical and physical attributes of the product, keeping in mind the intended use, for minimal snow fall (too little to break out the full size snow blower) or to clear steps and small walkways in stages, when the snowfall is significant. When operating from either the supplied Lithium Ion battery or directly from 120 V AC, the impeller rotates with gusto...though with a slight delay after depressing the operating control, to allow the electronics to ramp up...giving me confidence that it will throw the snow as advertised. However....this is a HEAVY piece of equipment and, when used on AC without the Battery installed (per the manufacturer's instructions) it is somewhat unbalanced when suspended, as you would if taking 6 inch "bites" of deep drifts. For 6 inches or less of snowfall, when the scraper blade is sitting on the pavement, this will not be a problem. The Hybrid operation is a real plus...the convenience of battery power, when you don't want to trail an extension cord, but the ability to do so if the snow requires more effort than the battery pack can provide (though, with a 3 hour recharge time, one could also just take a hot chocolate break). When used in the "AC" mode, an attachment plug cap is provided for connection to a suitable extension cord, for which a clip is provided to prevent a tug on the cord from separating the connector. I anticipate using this mostly for stair steps and for clearing an area in front of the garage door for the full size snow blower, so battery capacity appears to be adequate for that (will know for sure after the first snowfall). The plastic scraper blade will, no doubt, suffer wear from contact with concrete walks, steps and driveways, but the manufacturer offers replacements for less than $10, so that will be a normal "consumable". The impeller, another part that may be subject to damage if objects in the snow are encountered, is available for about $20...reasonable, considering the size of the part. Two negative observations noted are; One of the screws securing the handle tube to the lower part of the product was inserted at an angle and not fully seated and, the bolt that secures the handle tubes was loose in the packing and had fallen out onto the floor, which I realized only after finding that I was missing a part to put the product together. Once we get some snowfall, it will be possible to more thoroughly evaluate the performance of the product...and see if it deserves an additional start.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Work in progress: This shovel is too heavy at the impeller housing for easy use needs to be lightened. Maybe could be made with aluminum ,cast or redesign of plastic. Also when starting to blow snow it directs it to the left before going to straight. This is not good for close in work! The idea is great, the battery last well for most jobs.
