WHY CAN"T YOU USE LONGER THEN A MAXIMUM LENGTH EXTENSION CORD of 50 FEET AS ADVISED FOR THIS ELECTRIC SHOVEL?
Asked by: NOSNOWTHISWINTERPLEASE
This would be a consideration for getting the required power to the motor, a longer cord suffers more drop over the length so the manufacture states the recommended max length. I use a heavy duty extension cord (one with thicker gauge wires) and don't suffer from a loss. I believe I could easily connect two together without a significant loss. Smaller gauge cords may reduce the power at the motor and the unit would not work as efficiently. However, if you really need more than 50 feet, you may want to consider a battery operated unit rather than an electric one as the cord gets to be a pain to manage.

Blows snow well but you cannot control where the snow is blowing- no directional control - snow shoots straight out high into the air, and ends up getting caught by the wind -you then end up standing in the middle of a self created blizzard!!! with snow blowing all over your body and into your face- its worse with the wind blowing!!! I used the product several times in snow falls of 2-6 inches of snow. I gave up after 2 months- this was not a one time attempt. I took it back to Home Depot for a full refund. Also with all that snow blowing back into your face and the area you are trying to clear- snow residue ends up landing right back on the area you are trying to clear!!! -you end up with a inch of snow blowing back on the cleared out area- you then have to go back to and clean up with a shovel- Go get a good metal ergonomically correct snow shovel for 25 bucks and skip this product- Good idea in theory, but its not practical. Also, the electric cord gets in the way too- so have to be careful with that as well!!!

Although the product was easy to assemble, it is not as easy to use as I thought it would be. I bought this to use in my patio space rather than try to maneuver my snow blower into a small space. I did not realize that it would require more muscle than I have to move it...that is a problem, using a regular shovel would be less strenuous. .It is not serving the purpose of making it easier to shovel..It does have a light which is helpful but there only one direction for the snow...straight up....if you are trying to shovel beneath a patio cover look out!!! I should have researched more ...would not have gotten this product.

Bought this at the sale price a few weeks ago (ordered it online... good deal) to help me clear the driveway. I live in Queens, attached brick house, in-door garage. However, I tried it today, 1/8/2017, no wind, sunny day - the machine is very powerful but the snow was blowing all over the place, I was surrounded. I was hoping it would make my work a little easier but it just made the whole situation worse. I'm hoping no one saw this comedy of errors. I'm taking it back to Home Depot. Too bad. I'll try something different.

Purchased this about 1.5 months ago with the intent of blowing my wood deck. It's been used now about 6-8 times. It's a bit heavy so I tend to push the snow close to the edge and then use the Snow Joe to blow the piles of snow. I like that it blows far away vs. piling up beside my deck when shoveling. It will work in light and deep snow, but ideal depth is about 8-10 inches. Before using I recommend letting it acclimatize outside for 5-10 mins so the snow doesn't stick to it. It will get hung up on uneven surfaces. Found I will have to use a broom after if I want absolutely no snow on the deck. One thing would make it better is if you could adjust the angle (up & down) at which the snow is being blown. Also, the LED light is pointless. I got the display model on sale and probably would not have purchased had it been regular retail price.

If windy be aware as the blower throws the snow straight forward, thus back on you if facing upwind. This is compensated for by turning at an angle thus decreasing the width of the plowing path. Should have bought the next size up with the ability to direct the cast of the snow. It does handle the snow , in an okay fashion given these limits.

Actually pretty fun to use on the deck, It's way cool to see the snow flying over the wall i have around the side! Does in 15 min what would take over an hour with the shovel. Not quite as clean a job as the shovel, but hey a minute or two cleaning up some of the light stuff. I waited till i'd used it in several snow conditions, I can't see one where it didn't reasonably do pretty well.

I have a small but steeply angled driveway, so I must shovel diligently to prevent snow becoming ice and that leading to parking on inclined frictionless surfaces. A big snow blower is clearly overkill, but a shovel is too much work once the snow is deeper than an inch or so. Snow Joe was a great find! Recommended!!!

Haven't been able to use yet but when I tried the lead cord would not plug into the whip--I do't know why the prongs are not offset to allow lead to couple--have to obtain two wire lead cord to use it---I have other electrical equipment-(lawnmower,weed-eater etc etc) & have no problem connecting the lead cord--the prongs are offset to allow 3 wire cords to connect.
