I haven't used it yet. Just took it out of the box to assemble it in preparation for the snow, and realized it needs an extension cord and not just any extension cord a 14 gauge. Who has one of those just laying around? So I had to go on to amazon and buy one and pay expedited shipping to have in in time for the arrival of the snow. Some where in the description or on the box it should tell you this cord is needed. I will update once I've used the product. Assembly instructions could also be a little more detailed

What is it with poor reviews.. You had to buy a cord! Ridiculous! Read the description. Look at the pictures. Oh it only throws snow out the front. No kidding that's what it is designed to do. My wife just cleaned a 30x16 deck with it and the snow was 12 inches deep. Take your time and don't push it too hard and you will not have to shovel anything. If the wind is howling your just going to have to work with the wind otherwise you will get a face full of snow. I bought this exact model at my Home Depot Store for $59. Wife and I love it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jos289 Snow Joe Electric Shovel
This snow remover has a lot of power and easily clears deep packed snow. For someone with good body strength, I would highly recommend it. The men who used it loved it and thought it was great. I was disappointed because it was simply too heavy for my aging body to handle (I need something with wheels). I gave the "value" rating five stars because I got it on a black Friday sale that made it well worth the money.

Living in Idaho, we were slammed with two days of snow. I had back surgery this year so chucking heavy snow is something that could land me back in the hospital. I used the snow shovel to clear off a foot of snow off the 20x20 foot composite deck. It was able to chuck the snow over the railing. When the snow is over 6 inches high, it blocks the chute so you can get around that limitation by only doing 1/2 the shovel width wise through the snow at a time. It was like pushing a heavy vacuum cleaner and took me 35 minutes. I had to stop when the wind picked up because it blew snow in a mist everywhere and snow was back where I had shoveled. The snow was light and fluffy but some places had chunks and the blower garbled it and chucked it. The blades are a hard plastic the machine is loud like a old vacuum cleaner. This is useful and I will use it to clear my sidewalk to the mailbox and a path to the trash bin. It is light enough to hang on the garden tools wall hook.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Steimer Great little "Monster"
My wife bought me this for X-mas and I was a little skeptical at first but after watching some videos of it in action, I decided to keep it and wait for the first snow. I didn't have to wait long for Storm Jonas to dump 2 feet of snow on us! There was a foot of it and still coming down when I unleashed this little monster on it and boy was I surprised! I started by "shaving" off from the top and it gobbled it up and threw it 20 feet in front of me, just like it says it does! You need a good 100 foot outdoor extension cord, or less, depending on your needs, and a strategic plan of attack so your'e not doing double work or getting a face full of snow(stand downwind) Take your time and don't force it on big chunks of frozen ice and you'll be fine. Look, it's not an $800 gas blower that your neighbor has that's always breaking down and everybody wants to be his friend when it snows, but it is just what it says it is, an electric snow shovel! After a little practice and dancing with the cord,I love it! It sure beats picking up a shovel full of snow, walking 20 feet and throwing it (and your back out!).

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by SusanVT Still feels like I hand shoveled
The good thing about this electric shovel over a shovel that you manage all on your own is that it does move the snow away a lot further from the area you're clearing. I've only used it on light, powdery snow and it worked well. I haven't tried it on wet snow yet.
If the area you are clearing is uneven, you're going to find yourself lifting this electric snow shovel over every little bump....and it gets really heavy after doing this a lot. So instead of lifting heavy shovels full of snow, I was lifting a heavy electric snow shovel!
What it needs are wheels on the back side. That way, the wheels give a fulcrum allowing the shovel to move easily over the area you just cleared with the front part of this machine. Then when you're done, you can wheel it back into the garage.
Another down side is that there's no directing the snow. It goes straight ahead. When I use a regular shovel, I always move the snow to the side of the path I'm walking. With this electric shovel, I have to travel back and forth across the path. Or shoot the snow towards the house on my first pass to get to the door. Then work my way away from the house and shovel the area again as I throw snow on the path I cleared to get to the door.
I only used the electric shovel in daylight, so I don't know if the LED light is any value. I do know that the light did get covered with snow as I used the shovel.
All-in-all, if this machine had wheels so that I could easily glide it over uneven surfaces, I would probably recommend it even though the snow only shoots straight ahead. Or if I had asphalt or even concrete pathways, this machine might do well. But I have pavers and wooden decks and stepping stones separated by grass....and using this electric shovel is just as much work as using a regular shovel.
