Answer:
There is a handle you pull on and hold, to start the blowing effect. You also have to press a safety switch, before you pull on the handle, and when the handle is released, it goes back off again.

Answer:
Hello Leslie,
You will press an hold a button on the side of the handle, then pull back on the lever on the handle and the blades will start to spin. It's a safety mechanism so that the blades can't start with you in front of the blower.
If you let go of the lever on handle the blades will stop.

Fluffy snow removal is one thing. Heavy snow is something else. I know it would not handle a lot of heavy snow like a 2 stage blower, but will it handle say 2 or 3 inches of heavy spring snow?

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 105 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Need to create blades that are more powerful I bought this a month ago but we didn't receive snow in my area until December 29th, 2015. I tried the machine for the first time yesterday but it didn't live up to it's standards. The video I watched online started that the power of the snow will be thrown 20inch. But my machine only shot the snow a little distance neer the ground. The snow also accumulated on top of the snow blower and I had to scrape it out with a brush in order to continue with my job. I believe the battery should be designed more powerful to handle the winter conditions in the Ottawa area. December 30, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value If you have more than 5", you have to make more than one pass to get to bottom. Once I figured out that it is really nice to use. Battery charge lasted for more than one storm. I'm glad I purchased it. June 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great snow thrower Extremely easy to use, like the convenience and power. April 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet, easy-to-use blower for general purposes Overall, this is a really good little blower, especially considering the price and that it's cordless electric. It is very quiet. I would like to see it throw the snow somewhat further, but it's fine to clear a driveway if you start in the middle and then work out to each side, blowing to each side ahead of you. Fine for sidewalks and narrower pathways. It's quite light, so it's easy to get from place to place. I find the battery lasts between 30-40 minutes on a charge with a fairly heavy and fairly high snowpack (5-7 inches), which isn't bad for what the machine is. All in all it's very good and a good value. I also can't give it five stars just because it is just a big piece of plastic. For general purposes, though, and considering modern consumer products in general, it's just fine. February 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome little snowblower! This snowblower did everything they said it would & being powered by a rechargeable battery was so easy & convenient. It took all of 15 minutes to get it out of the box & put together...no tools needed. I had snow as little as 4" to 12" this year & this snowblower handled it all...even the heavier stuff that the plow put back in the approach. I like not having to deal with gas or an electrical cord. I have a long driveway so I did purchase a spare battery which was needed, one battery lasted about 40 minutes, 2 batteries did the trick for me. Batteries recharged in about 1-1/2 hours. The light & the auto rotate switch for the shute are also awesome features. Very pleased & oh so quiet. It takes up very little space in the garage & is light enough to hang on the wall when this snow season is done. I am so impressed with this brand I will be looking into the lawnmower they have which runs on the same batteries. March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product This was really easy to set-up. We got about 33 inches of snow in total over two days so it had its limits. However, at the beginning, this kept up with the smaller amounts easily. Even though this blower has its limits, it helped me to keep my sidewalk clear and clear out around my car. I would just push against the pile and it would start breaking down the mound of snow. Then I would pull back and hit it again. It worked better than I ever anticipated. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 4th use this winter in Colorado Just had an 6-8" today. I was able to get the 3-car drive just about done when the battery died. For an electric this does the job. It doesn't shoot the snow far enough for a 3 car driveway, but you would need a good 2-stager for that. This is great for the price, more than effective. Don't get the handful of bad reviews, what do they expect, 2-stage capability? I think you get more than what you pay for in this snow blower. February 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent for average size driveways This machine is ideal for light-duty snow clearing on typical suburban driveways. My first use happened to be during a heavy-wet snowfall at below-freezing temperatures and although it did fairly well, ice accumulated in the chute and had to be manually pushed through the chute several times. Despite this, the machine is compact, very easy to handle, the battery loads in just seconds, and stores easily in standard size garages. My recommendation is that you obtain a back-up battery and have it charged as a stand-by for easy switch-out if you have a protracted clearing project. I have recommended this snow blower to two people and both said they were very interested, primarily because of the battery power rather than noisier gas powered blowers. December 22, 2015
