Customer Reviews

10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifer and Remote is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not pleased with our Soleus Air Portable air conditioner My wife has had this unit in her studio. The windows in the studio were too narrow for a window unit, so this was our solution. Yesterday it was making quite a racket and she called the company and were basically told "it is the fan, it is not repairably by you, you can ship it to us at your expenses and we will look at it". We purchased it on July 8, 2010, yesterday was July 26, 2011 (one-year and two weeks). It was NOT heavily used. We are disappointed in the lack of service and lack of commitment by the company in this matter (we did buy at Home Depot, but not really HD's fault)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from a little pricey but cooled my 16 X 22 room nicely I liked the moving louvers. It was a real pain to drain the water. Some nights I had to drain it 2 to 3 times a night, which is a huge pain, then some nights it would not need to be drained at all. Depends on the humidity. I finally set it on top of a table and ran a hose into a bucket so I wouldn't have to drain it all the time. That worked but it looked terrible and my wife hated it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO FAR SO GOOD "This unit is loud, especially when the compressor turns off and on. In addition, water builds up in the little tray at the bottom and needs to be emptied daily. If it isn't emptied, the A/C unit shuts off automatically. Waste of money."/////////////WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? WATER BUILDS UP IN THE LITTLE TRAY AT THE BOTTOM? THE A/C UNIT SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY? I HAVENT SEEN NO WATER BUILD UP AND UNIT KEEPS GOING AND GOING AND GOING ALL NITE JUST LIKE THE ENERGIZER RABBIT

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loud and Cheaply Made This unit is loud and the exhaust tube complete disintegrated after one year. I mean fell apart! Do not buy this unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money - not recommended I installed the AC this AM. Outside temps were high 70's. When I turned it on the room temp was 80* and the outside temp 78*. Four hours later the outside temp was 81* and the inside temp was 82*. By early evening the outside temp had risen to 86*, exactly the same as the inside temp. It's now 10PM and 76* outside and our bedroom is 86*. Apparently the unit makes a good bedroom heater. While it's obvious that the AC function isn't working, the real problem is that the unity is poorly designed and not intended for bedroom use. It is so loud that sleep will be impossible, listening to television unthinkable and having a conversation in a normal speaking voice is unhearable. Think B-17 revving it's engines. Add to that the absolutely inconvenient condensate drain system and you have a real winner. The drain is about 1" above floor level. The condensate tank holds about 1.5L of water. The unit comes with a "drain pan" that probably holds a couple of ounces. You are left with the choice of either draining into the shallow pan provided - and draining the tank a few ounces at a time or you can lift the 70# unit and drain it into a larger container. Incidentally it took only 12 hours to fill the tank and then the AC shuts off (not that it made a difference). So much for the evaporating condensate feature. To make matters worse, I have to pay shipping to get warrantee repairs on an overpriced piece of junk that I wish I had never purchased. I'm currently debating just tossing it in the junk pile where it belongs and eating the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from portable air conditioner We are very pleased with the purchase of this unit. It was easy to assemble except they could be more explicit on the hose and pan for water collection. We were puzzeled with these objects as it was not clear what to do with them, but the unit runs perfectly and works well to keep us cool, especially in the heat that we have been having this year. We highly recommend this unit to anyone needing a portable unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beats the Heat We purchased this unit for my Mother's apartment in a retirement community. It delivers as promised, quickly cooling her bedroom. The air vents are larger than on other units and adjustable. Remote control works well, no water accumulation or other malfunction. Would recommend to cool one room efficiently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soleus Air conditioner with dehumidifier feature This air conditioner is quiet and convenient to use. It is easy to move around and can easily be adjusted to my needs. It is powerful enough to keep a single room cool during our hot summers. It helps a great deal that it requires little maintenance.
