Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bigfox The product does not do its job.
I purchased a 12000 BTU unit to cool a small room of 135 square feet. The room is enclosed with Low E glass and has 97 percent UV rejection blinds on the windows. The walls have 4-inches of Styrofoam for insulation. The unit does not cool this room below 81 degrees F. I do not recommend anyone purchase this unit for the purposes of cooling a room of any size. It was difficult to install because a 6-inch hole needed to be drilled through the wall to vent the unit. The unit installation instructions does not address this type of installation, only a window installation. I had to pay over $100 to have someone drill this hole for me and install a dryer vent on the outside.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Belle GOOD for home that isn't insulated; looking for another though
Living in the south, it can get pretty hot. Our home is about 100 years old and the house is "hotter" in summer and "colder" in winter. We bought this unit because it is hard finding a good window unit with heating and air. The unit has a rumble and blue light that doens't shut off. All is well! The one unit alone doesn't keep the house comfortable at all. For the room, it's a normal sized room and keeps pretty cool for 90 degree weather. It also keeps pretty warm for 30- 40 degree weather. At times, I have to open a window because it gets dry hot. But, with the windows cracked and the heater running, all is good. I would recommend for a bedroom not the whole house!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CDMM Terrible Design
So, I will preface this review by saying that, yes, this unit pumps out a TON of cool air, which is what it is supposed to do.
However, there is a MAJOR design flaw. There is no "auto" mode for the fan. Yes, you can set the thermostat to the temperature you prefer and it will turn off the A/C compressor. The major problem, though, is that the thermostat does not control the fan.
What this means is that you end up having the fan on 100% of the time. This means electrical consumption and noise 100% of the time, not just when you need it.
I called Soleus and confirmed that every one of their A/C units has this "feature".
I would not have bought the unit if I had known that.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dissappointed Regret Buying This JUNK!
Purchased SoleusAir's portable 12,000 Btu AC/Heat Pump a couple of years ago. The unit's compressor is very loud and generates lots of vibration through the floor. Two years later, the fan now only operates in one speed, the power on/off button must be pressed 4-6 times before the unit turns on. The condensation drain is at the bottom of the unit; so, you must raise the 88 lb unit to allow the fluid to drain. Basically, I wasted my money buying a product from an inexperienced company. I wouldn't recommend buying any SoleusAir product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AmericanDreamer Very tepid cooling, lots of water to deal with.
Lacks cooling power for an air conditioner. We got it for our bedroom but was unimpressed with it. We ran it for over 48 hours continuously and the lowest temp we ever achieved was 73degrees. Our room is well insulated and average sized (17x12). It also puts out a large amount of condensation than has a chance to overflow and spill onto the floor around the unit. It can be quite hazardous if you don't clean it up. Getting tech support from the manufacturer is also quite a painful experience. Not much good to say about this product.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by KEP1955 Satisfied with product except for vent installation kit.
I had difficulty mounting the vent kit as it fits too close to the window sill and did not match what was in the owner's manual. Made of plastic (which cracked trying to install) and the vent hose would not stay in the vent attachment on both the unit and the window kit without taping it. I contacted Soleus to get the kit that is shown in the picture in the manual but they said I could not exchange this kit for another. Need to improve the venting installation kits.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JohnnyLounge21 Need to cool your place? This is the product!
Delivered quickly by UPS. Easy to drag down the hallway, even if you're alone. Did the full installation alone too. 99% of what you need is in the box. Installed quickly and easily. Once running - this thing PURRS like a kitten. Blowing out super cool air with multiple settings. A nice loud rumble kept my girlfriend sleeping through the night even in loud South Beach on Washington Ave. The only missing piece is a small plastic piece of tubing that I bought to drain the unit out the window in case it fills with water (from reading other reviews, I found this may happen and didn't want to ever have to deal with it). Also - the cord isn't too long. Be sure to get a nice extension cord if you have more than 6' to cover after setting it up. Overall - EXACTLY what we're looking for. Narrow, easy to install and blows COLD and HARD!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by db9804 good value per price
The first one came without any damage from its box, but its electronic controller dead. It could not be turned off or switch to heat or AC once plugged in. Brought it back to nearest home depot for refund so they ordered a second one. HD also gave 10% discount for inconvenient. Second unit came in and worked fine just like advertised.
It is powerful, able to handle 500sqft room without too much trouble.
