Rated 1 out of 5Â by Dissappointed Regret Buying This JUNK!
Purchased SoleusAir's portable 12,000 Btu AC/Heat Pump a couple of years ago. The unit's compressor is very loud and generates lots of vibration through the floor. Two years later, the fan now only operates in one speed, the power on/off button must be pressed 4-6 times before the unit turns on. The condensation drain is at the bottom of the unit; so, you must raise the 88 lb unit to allow the fluid to drain. Basically, I wasted my money buying a product from an inexperienced company. I wouldn't recommend buying any SoleusAir product.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by AmericanDreamer Very tepid cooling, lots of water to deal with.
Lacks cooling power for an air conditioner. We got it for our bedroom but was unimpressed with it. We ran it for over 48 hours continuously and the lowest temp we ever achieved was 73degrees. Our room is well insulated and average sized (17x12). It also puts out a large amount of condensation than has a chance to overflow and spill onto the floor around the unit. It can be quite hazardous if you don't clean it up. Getting tech support from the manufacturer is also quite a painful experience. Not much good to say about this product.

So, I will preface this review by saying that, yes, this unit pumps out a TON of cool air, which is what it is supposed to do.
However, there is a MAJOR design flaw. There is no "auto" mode for the fan. Yes, you can set the thermostat to the temperature you prefer and it will turn off the A/C compressor. The major problem, though, is that the thermostat does not control the fan.
What this means is that you end up having the fan on 100% of the time. This means electrical consumption and noise 100% of the time, not just when you need it.
I called Soleus and confirmed that every one of their A/C units has this "feature".
I would not have bought the unit if I had known that.

Could not cool my 16x16 room below 75F when outside it was about 80F. Heater is good but AC is not. Also VERY LOUD. Returned for a 14,000 BTU LG. The LG is MUCH better. Will never buy another product made by this company again.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by bigfox The product does not do its job.
I purchased a 12000 BTU unit to cool a small room of 135 square feet. The room is enclosed with Low E glass and has 97 percent UV rejection blinds on the windows. The walls have 4-inches of Styrofoam for insulation. The unit does not cool this room below 81 degrees F. I do not recommend anyone purchase this unit for the purposes of cooling a room of any size. It was difficult to install because a 6-inch hole needed to be drilled through the wall to vent the unit. The unit installation instructions does not address this type of installation, only a window installation. I had to pay over $100 to have someone drill this hole for me and install a dryer vent on the outside.
