Unit seemed very good at first, and lasted through the entire first summer of use. Within two weeks of starting it this year, the coil would frost up, indicating low refrigerant.
Contacted Soleus Customer Service for warranty replacement, I asked very clearly about returning the unit, they told me I would not have to return the unit, then sent email saying I would have to return it (at my cost). When I replied and asked why they were telling me something different, the agent replied back by email that I had told him that another customer service agent had told me that. I spoke to no one other than that one agent. I can understand their policy, but he lied to me twice, and even put the second lie in writing.
I would NOT recommend this product or Solues.

I have a moderately damp 1000 sq ft.finished basement and bought this unit May 2012. It worked well from May until September (rather loudly though) and then I stored it away until this spring. Almost a year to the day that I bought the dehumidifier, I took it out for use once again. It turned on fine but the water wasnt going into the catch basin. It was coming out of the bottom of the unit. I checked EVERYTHING on the unit and found no problems but still couldnt figure out why it wasnt retaining the water. Needless to say, is stained my basement carpet and I returned it. I bought this unit because of the low price and I got what I paid for, garbage

We needed to find a small dehumidifier for a cabin that is about 1000 square feet and sits unused for long stretches through the winter. The cabin heat is set low (about 45 degrees Farenheit) so the dehumidifier needed to be able to operate at mid-40 degree temps. This model is exactly what we needed. It is solidly built and was easy to set up. The garden hose connection and automatic restart after power outage is perfect for our need to be able to leave it for weeks at a time unattended. The fan is a little noisy, but we can turn it off when the cabin is in use.

Purchased this unit to replace a 2 year old Sears Kenmore which failed due to Freon leak! Kenmore is same as LG. In fact most dehumidifiers seem to be made by only a couple of manufacturers and use the same parts!
This is a nice unit. It is very quiet by dehumidifier standards; noticeable quieter than my high end Sears (LG) unit. Connecting the exterior drain hose was not really that difficult and only needs to be done once. The unit's outside dimensions are much smaller than many other brands, which is nice.
Overall very satisfied, however, I will be most swayed by the eventual reliability of the unit. After reading many reviews, reliability does not seem to be an attribute of dehumidifiers. The SoleusAir unit appears to be somewhat different than LGs, so I am somewhat hopeful.
