Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 36 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good solid bookcase with chintzy backing Nice solid unit that matches my other similar wood tone furniture. The only problem is the backing - very cheap and shipped folded vertically, so the crease will show once assembled. No way to hide it except fill the shelves... April 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by New bookcase This bookcase was ordered from Home Depot online and came on time according to the delivery schedule. The bookcase with securely packaged but unfortunately there were still some flaws in the wood on various places. The bookcase was the exact dimensions and fit in the spot that I needed. It looks nice in the living room and we use it for homeschooling purposes April 22, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Purchase Ever When we opened the box we noticed that some of the boards had knicks on them and there was a long scratch on one of the side boards. It chips very easily and the pieces that hold the removable shelves fit loosely in the holes, so it is very easy for the shelves to collapse. The only good thing was that it was very easy to assemble. April 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I like it but... I like the bookcase it was easy to put together and it looks nice, but the selves can't hold a lot of weight. I have a lot of book so I had them doubled up on two of the selves and it caused the shelves to warp and fall out. I was able to fix it by turning them upside down and only having one line of books on the shelves. The skinny version of this bookcase is good and I've never had problems with it. November 20, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The upshot is “Don’t buy this product”. About 2 weeks ago, I bought three bookcases in order to make a wall of books. The shelves arrived in good time. I’ve put together several other projects, mostly from Sauder, and never had a problem. The first bookcase went together OK. The second and third bookcases both had one side on which the predrilled holes in the side didn’t match the holes in the permanent (not adjustable) shelf. I had to get out a drill and make new holes in the shelves. It was a hassle drilling into pressboard, but the holes I made seemed to work. I set the bookcases against the wall and attached them with the brackets provided. I put my books on the shelves, and after only two days, three of the adjustable shelves had begun to sag in the middle. As I write, one shelf has sagged ⅜ of an inch. I think that South Shore needs to realize that bookcases and actually for books, not nick-nacks. December 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fast, easy assembly Nice color, less than 30 minutes to assemble even by very short, nearly 70 year old lady..some damage in shipping and didn't know how to repack to return.. November 11, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 5 shelf bookcase Its a good easily assmbeled bookcase,it does the job, looks good and worth the money, just remember its not fine furniture. October 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value! Easy to assemble! Looks good! After moving my elderly mom in, I needed book shelves that were stable enough to store the cookbooks she holds so dear, looked nice and fit in a small space. These book shelves are terrific for that. Yes, they are cheap...the back is flimsy cardboard, but you don't really see it if you are using the shelves for books. The frame is stable, and I ended up buying two of them. The dark wood finish really does looks richer than it really is and they don't look like "cheap" big box discount store shelving. February 12, 2014
