Rated 2.4 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not worth the $ I've had opening price point blowers before, my last one lasted 10 years. So I figured this one, mid priced would be good. NOT. Hard to start, then had to idle for 10 minutes before could give it any throttle, or it would bog and die. Returned it the next day. Maybe just a lemon, but have learned from it to pay attention to reviews, and pay attention to what the majority say. November 19, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice blower for the money This is a great little blower for the money. It always starts right up and works as expected. For the price, it can't be beat! March 4, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not happy, kept dying It seems that you needed to hold the item a certain way to get it to work. If you held it too low, it would die. January 24, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth the money I bought this blower last year and already the tubing withing the gas tank fell off. It does not work anymore unless I replace it. Please buy something else. April 25, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Commercial Blower - Way Under-rated This product has been under-rated due to minor fuel pickup and carb problems. In fact I previously down-rated it for the fuel cap. It's a shame because that such simple and easily overcome problems have led to low ratings by a few users. I've used this blower for over 4 years commercially (stored outdoors in rain) and it is a good commercial blower with great output. The Viper engine and blower units are heavy-duty and will take the punishment of daily use over a long time. I actually have the SOUTHLAND S-HBV-30175 (Blower / Vacuum / Mulcher) which is identical but comes with a leaf shredder attachment. Southland is made by Ardisam (Cumberland, WI company behind Earthquake / Viper). Based on my experiences with an Earthquake gas auger, they are very responsive, personable and it's easy to get parts. A few minor mods can make this a pretty decent unit. The fuel problems can be overcome by replacing the pickup line with a longer one so that the filter sits at the very bottom of the gas tank. Otherwise it needs to be over half full to start. Also the primer bulb is a little thin for commercial use. Replace it easily with Walbro 188-16 / 188-16-1. Viper fuel caps are a proprietary thread so you can't replace them with one from the hardware store. Buy it directly from Ardisam or an Ardisam dealer. Mine often leaks so I keep the blower stored vertically in a piece of 4" drain pipe attached to a corner of my truck bed. Another thing I did since I store it on my truck where it gets soaked is short around the switch. I stop it by throttling and choking simultaneously which pretty much works with all two cycle engines. September 16, 2014
