I don't like to buy stuff on line, but I needed a new lawn edger and the price was good. Picked up this Southland lawn edger at my local Home Depot(free shipping). The box was in excellent shape and the Home Depot people helped me load it in my pickup. Read the instructions and had it all put together in under an hour, attach handle and wheels, add oil, oil was included in box, you need metric wrenches. All the nuts and bolts were in plastic bags, easy to find. Runs great, thankfully I don't need the curb hopping feature, it looks kind of funky. Don't fill the gas tank completely full, gasoline needs extra space to expand when it gets hot. Great buy, Happy edging to all!!!

The instructions caution against over filling gas tank. So, I filled to about 90% level. Ran a few minutes on a hot day--motor stopped and gas was flowing out the top of the carburator. Opened the gas tank--gas flow stopped--the gas was boiling inside the gas tank which sits on top of the motor. Waited a few minutes for gas to cool down--started right up and ran for 45 minutes until I had finished. I will probably fill tank to no more than 60% to prevent this pressure build up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice My edger is very easy to put together and a snap to start. The only reason why I won't give it 5 stars is because it seems like one of the wheels turn in slightly and it goes alittle off course. But besides that I'm thrilled to have it

I intended to rate this product excellent but couldn't get the "excellent" to click/stay. Gives a good manicured edging. I've had several edgers over the years and this is the best I've had to date.

I grew up using electric edgers, so I could not wait to make the jump to the "new-fangled" line trimmers when they were introduced years ago. Now, after years of reloading spools, untangling lines and enduring the less-than-sharp edging that they inevitably produce, I finally decided to go back to the world of bladed edgers, only now without the extension cord. After comparing just about every gasoline edger on the market, I decided on the Southland edger because of its comparatively low price, all-steel construction (you would not believe the number of "plastic edgers" on the market today), and flexible configuration. Admittedly, it took a few practice runs to get used to the settings and controls, but I could tell an immediate difference in the appearance of my yard, and a significant reduction in the amount of time required to complete my edging. I still keep my old string trimmer on hand for touch-up and some curved curbing for which the blade is not particularly effective. After using it for a little over a month now, I could not be more pleased. The only possible weakness I have observed is the life of the blade, which seems to wear fairly quickly. However, that may very well be due to the depth of my initial edging as I worked to get my yard back in shape after years of string trimmer edging. I have already noticed a significant ease of cutting and reduced wear following the "trenching" in my first few cuts. I already have a spare blade on hand, but I consider that to be a minor inconvenience considering the enhanced appearance of my yard the edger has already produced.

We have had nothing but problems with this edger since we bought it about two years ago. It has only been used about 5 times, and we've replaced the carburetor twice (had to order a new carburetor and it took months to get it). Haven't used it over the winter, went to use it this spring and it worked fine one time, went to use it again on another yard, it went about 15 feet, stopped, and now it's leaking gas like a sieve and will not start again. It is a lemon!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Deal So far so good. Only used 3 times. It was very easy to assemble and even easier to operate. Quick Start and go. Somewhat sturdy and over all not a bad Edger for the price. The Oil Dip stick can be tricky to put back in. FYI... it does mention in Manuel to check Oil with Dipstick not fastened down. Something you have to remember. Do only reason I do not give 5 Stars is because, if your not careful it can rock toward the blade while running and chip your sidewalk or driveway before your ready.
