conflicting conductor color info

i got 2 conflicting anawers on the individual conductor colors: black, white, red And black, white, green. not that important as long as black & red OR green are L1, L2 [hots] w/ white as neutral. is this correct?
Asked by: bobfmbutte
NO on a newer dryer hookup, a 4 wire system, RED and BLACK are the HOT conductors and will go to the 2pole double throw breaker. the WHITE is neutral and GREEN is always GROUND . hook the green and white to the neural bar in the panel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed I used this to wire a power inlet box to a transfer switch. It is pretty thick so it was not the easiest stuff to work with particularly when going around corners but overall it is a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 50' 10/3 cable I am going to use this for a connection from a generator to my electrical panel when there is a power outage. It was recommended to me by an electrician who uses this type of cable for the same jobs he does for other people.
