Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Replaced the good with the bad I do a LOT of network wiring (about 5-10K feet/month) and had been using Home Depot's General Cable brand which was superb! Nice thick jacket that was consistently round and easy to strip. Home Depot replaced General Cable with Southwire a few months ago and I can't stand this cable! The outer jacket is very thin and almost seems like it has been heat shrunk around the UTP wires and thus it is very bumpy. This makes it very hard to strip without nicking the wires even with good UTP strippers! Worst of all is that each and every box will get tangled somewhere along the line! Never had that problem with General Cable. Wish HD would switch back to General Cable! May 2, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Cable... Avoid.. If you pull and terminate a lot of Cat5e, avoid this brand. It's garbage. The General cable that HD used to carry was great, This cable is trash and is HDs way of selling cable for the lowest cost. Of course, with the "lower" cost comes low quality. I buy a lot of cable and am no longer buying from you HD. I've gone to the better brands and won't look back. April 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Ever! This is the worst wire I've ever TRIED to use. The whites are not marked to their corresponding pair, they are all plain white. The conductors are thin and break easily. So easily that unspooling 70' of cable from the box generated opens in the length. I can't even imagine trying to pull this stuff. The jackets are thin and brittle easy to strip with your finger nails but not real useful. I've been doing this for years and could successfully make a 10' patch cable without opens or shorts in 7 attempts. I'm returning the remainder of the spool and will never buy this brand again. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bad cable way to thin not a deal at all this cable is very bad the jacket on the cable is way to thin not good for long runs the other name brand you used to Sell was the best i used to buy a lot of it for my company now i go to a other store now to get all my cat5e cable your cable is Not a good deal any more Tell your Buying Dept at HomeDepot March 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible wire Terrible wire. Even with only short runs fished to first floor locations from basement, wire is unusable. Tried redoing multiple connections, simply cannot get a run of wire that is stable enough without network drop offs. If I could return it, I would. January 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Buyer Beware! I've been running network cable for years now. This Southwire product is for the birds. The sheathing is too thin and kinks. I just did a residential install where every connection was bad because of this wire. No kinks, but separated inside the jacket during manufacturing. Tomorrow's task - buy better cable from someplace else and pull new lines. Yay me... Don't buy this garbage... April 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Network Cable The labor involved in network cable installation means you only want to do it once. Never want to have to replace the cable and that is why this cable is so important to be reliable as well as a great value! August 4, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Do not use for long runs Fine for short runs, but if there is any kinks in the cable, or longer runs, it drops. I had one long run (90 feet) that would only connect if I switched my device to 10 meg connection. Another run would work if I wiggled the cable. NO CORE in cable -- should have bought something better. April 22, 2014
