which one is better 12/2 or 10/2 whats the difference between twp

Asked by: dan
Neither one is "better". 10/2 is just bigger wire and can carry more current. 12/2 is used on branch circuits on short runs or circuits 15-20 amps or less. 10/2 is used on longer runs and higher amp circuits. Consult an electrician if you are not sure what size wire to use. Too small of a wire is a FIRE HAZARD.

installing a 220volt 30 amp outlet running from circuit braker for a new Samsung Electric dryer.

Plug is a gnd and 2 angled prongs from dryer. this the cable I was told i need.
Asked by: PhillipSantanaMusic
DO NOT use 12/2 on 30 amp circuits. 12/2 is too light for a 30A circuit!

250 ft 12/2 solid CU MC Lite Cable is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.

One great thing about armored cable is that the rats cannot chew through it, like they can on an extension cord. It has three really nice wires inside and these have colored insulation. When you hook one end of the wire to a breaker, the electricity comes out the other end. You can hook up all kinds of things to this wire and they will work just fine. Just make sure you don't overload the wire, since it is not meant to carry too many amps. When you get a 250 foot roll. keep it wrapped up and pull out just what you need. If you unwrap it, the roll just springs apart and it gets knotted up, 250 feet of wire can really get tangled up. Have fun with all your electrical projects and BE SAFE!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great stuff to work with... I use this in my house rather than Romex, overkill but I like working with it and that it is less subject to damage in exposed areas like the attic, crawl space and my classic bare stud garage. Price is relatively good compared to buying 12 awg wire spools and pulling. Buy the special cutting tool for the cladding if you don't have one, well worth it.
