Customer Questions & Answers

Hi, what's the weight per roll?

Hi, what's the weight per roll?
Asked by: Michelle
Hi Michelle, The coil pack of 12 stranded thhn 1000 ft is roughly 24 lbs. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

Does this meet NEC requirement for THWN rating - to be used in conduit placed underground and outside.

THWN is listed in the product title, but nowhere in the description or specifications
Asked by: JohnT
Yes it does. All Southwire THHN conductors are also rated either THWN or THWN-2 which means that all Southwire THHN conductors can be used in wet locations. An underground conduit is counted as a wet location. You can obtain spec sheets at Southwire.com under the product catalog page.

Customer Reviews

2000 ft. 12 Black Stranded CU CoilPAK SIMpull THHN-THWN-2 Wire is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from this product works fine I had good luck using it just to try but really it's about 2 to 3 cents more per foot than 4 500 foot spools, comparatively. If you do this stuff everyday like me that can add up quick. I probably wouldn't use it for that reason. just get ya a decent wire cart to put your spools on. this product is only costing the consumers more money.
