Customer Questions & Answers

can I run this wire 250 feet from my home to an pole for my RV with a 50amp connection

Asked by: Fixer
A maximum distance of 203' will limit the voltage drop to 3% or less with a 6 gauge Copper conductor delivering 50 amps. Consider using 4 gauge.

Will I be able to run this 210 feet for 220 volt at 45 amps for a welder? If not what wire would I need?

Asked by: Nolan
No, you will need at least a #4 conductor. 1 conductors per phase utilizing a #4 Copper conductor will limit the voltage drop to 2.47% or less when supplying 45.0 amps for 210 feet on a 220 volt system. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

IS THIS WHAT YOU USE FROM THE ELECTRIC CO POLE TO THE HOUSE FOR MY MAIN POWER LINE?

TRYING TO DROP MY OVER HEAD SERVICE UNDER GROUND IN CONDUIT.
Asked by: BURNT
Well, maybe it is, maybe it isn't....you didn't give us any information regarding the amp (amperage) service that this is going to. This specific wire is 6 gauge copper, which is suitable for 55 amp service within a 80 foot run of it. Anything larger or smaller, you'd need a different wire. I'd highly recommend you to consult a licensed electrician in your area who can go over options at the site of where you need the new wire to be installed. Joseph

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Price by far! I used this to get power out to the RV so we could have enough power to run everything. 6-3 wire is best. Booya! 240/120 volt gets it done way better than just a 30amp @120volt. It's 12,000 watts of goodness. :)
